Timothy 6:10 " For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after , they have erred from the faith , and pierced themselves through many sorrows". The heart of man is never satisfied it still wants more.

I don't think anyone should play the lotto if they can not pay the bills, feed the family and see a doctor.

Same goes with smoking, drinking or any other pleasures as the may call it.

I am an American Pastor living in the Philippines and I see and know people here who don't even know where or when their next meal will come from and yet they buy LOTTO.

They us as an excuss that it is the (charities sweepstake) so it helps others.

Well, if you are a husband or the head of the family and you can not feed your family, you have no room for (pleasures) such as lotto, gambling, smoking, beer or even coke-a-cola (if that is your thing).

Feed the family first and make sure you have enough for the next meal.

I have ask that question of myself for a long time..... many believe that the money we put into playing it is being a bad steward of the money, and I do agree some what..... I only play a few $'s a month, I learned NOT to go over board..... and the Bible does state that something is a sin IF you think it is....... Gambling is NOT wrong in and of itself, it is when you spend it for that and not on bills, food, a roof, helping others, etc........... If you notice, like in Power Ball, the people who do win, win after spending only a single dollar, not talking about those BIG groups of people, but the single winners...... God bless

Yes....but.....only if you don't neglect your other responsibilities. Playing the Lotto is gambling, and like anything else, it can become addicting. You can end up spending way more than what you have and fall into financial ruin. Like everything else in life, moderation is the key. Give to God his share, pay your life expenses, save some money for the down times in life, and whatever is left over is for your pleasure, whether it's gambling, amusement parks, movies, electronic devices, or whatever.

No. Because gambling is a game of chance, you are invoking the power of a Babylonian god of chance.

Who ever bet on lotto does not trust our Loving and ever providing Saviour...

Winning the Lotto doesn't justify a Christian to play in the first place. The Lord does not tempt and does not give you more than you can handle; in saying so, He does not give to overburden you with its (money's) responsibility. He knows you better than you think....

Please don't confuse the Lotto as a charity (why not just give and not expect anything in return). Would anyone walk in to a casino to donate, rather than play? I hope you can find another "charity" to give, such that the return gives you more blessings than its monetary value.

I personally don't play, but if your family is in need or there are bills to be paid and you blow money on the Lotto, then I think it's wrong. But if you are responsible with money and have extra, then it should be alright.
If they win, they could do something good for someone else in need.

I dont think so because if someone truly trusted the Lord to bless them with money, they'd work hard and then someone could bless them with money. They'd know it was from the Lord. Lottery is the world's way of doing things..

Gambling of any kind is a waste of the resources that God gave you. It is not a responsible use of money. People gamble out of greed for more money, which is a sin.

I don't think a Christian should gamble. But for sure if they did, and did win, then they needed to tithe off of it.
