My Girlfriend tripped and got a deep scrape, she's washed it with soap and put a band-aid over it, is there anything else we can do?

If you haven't already, make sure there is not dirt or grit in the wound. Get some antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin and apply it to the scrape, then cover with sterile gauze. Change the dressing at least once a day, and reapply the antibiotic ointment each time. Watch out for signs of infection such as redness around the area and pus.

Keep it clean! Thats the most important thing. Antibiotic oitment such as neosporin and a non stick bandage for a couple of days. After that keep the ointment on until it scabs well, but I'd leave the air to also. Watch it for pus, reddening of the area and the area getting hot. These are signs of infection and abrasions are prone to infection. Good job on washing it right away though!

Just change the band-aid every 6 hours to prevent infection.

you need to keep it clean, you can use an antibiotic ointment and continue changing out the bandage, also you can soak it in warm salt water, look for signs of infection warm to touch, redness, and foul smelling discharge. If any of that is present go see you doctor. and if there is swelling you can put ice pack on it
