You can, but you are just as well using juniper berries as that is all the taste you will get out of the gin, and they are a lot cheaper.

Of course that doesn't go for deserts, I've made sorbets that have included gin in the past that have been very nice.

I am a former chef from Canada and have used it in cooking, even in steak tartar, sauce for cold fish, shrimp and crab, you can use it in a peppercorn sauce for a steak with a touch of cream, it goes well with salmon both fresh and smoked salmon.

I also used it a dressing at a hotel in Singapore for a endive, camambert, Japanese pear and yellow beets, they were just being introduced. It is like brandy and cognac, it ads a little flavour not pronounced but a touch of mystery.

You should always cook with every kind of alcohol available.

Try it first on a cheap hamburger, and then you'll know if you want to use it on your nice steak.

It is for drinking but there are a few recipes where you can use it for cooking. I don't know of any for steak though.
