WalMart charges 10 cents deposit on it's bottled sparkling water, yet on the side of the container, it states "CA Cash Refund 5 cents" Who gets the extra 5 cents, WalMart? When the container is returned for refund, 5 cents is all that is given.

if you are in california, that should be against the law. Wal Mart Corporate should be notified. Are you near a state that returns bottles for 10 cents? that might be the reason.

Which Wal-Mart? All deposits are remitted to the State less the amount refunded. Wal-Mart does not want anything that increases their price and if this is happening they will want to know and correct the mistake. Remember though that if if you take the containers to a recycler, say a bag of aluminum cans and they pay you for the aluminum they are not obligated to count the cans and give you the deposit.
