My cat's got two of the same toys I haven't seen him play with in months. They're (now as well as before, when he was still playing with them) on or next to his food plate every morning. Any ideas why?
His dry food's on top of the ice box and he sits looking at it and me and meowing. Does he think the toy causes the food to make it to the plate? Or....

If he caught a real mouse, he'd be leaving that instead of his mousie substitutes. He is honoring you by hunting for you and puts it in the dish because that is where the food goes. Lucky you!

That's cute... One of my cats used to do that, it might be that he thinks he is "hunting" and when he gets it he takes it to the place he eats then when he gets to his food bowl he sees the food so the thinks he's done good.... It could also be that maybe he is just playing and he realizes there is food there, so he carries it to the food bowl so he can play with it after he eats... and like most cats he gets distracted by something else... so it gets left there until he discovers it again, haha. I hope this helps!!

In the wild, cats take their prey back to the "nest" area to hide it from other predators. Pet cats don't really have a "nest" per se, so they often consider their food and water dishes as the "safest" areas within their "territory".

What a helpful kitty to put his toys back when he's done with them. I wish I could get my daughter to do that.

An idea that occurred to me: Maybe he thinks the toys are his babies and he is taking them to be fed!

that is so freakin cute. He's probably "hunting" the toys & is proud that he "killed" them. Now he wants to "eat" them. You really made my day!!! hee hee hee
