I have just bought a 1.6 Capri GL from 1982 and it is the showcar colour of light pearly green with beige interior HOWEVER .. I am thinking about getting it sprayed black because the green is quite faded but the only thing is that i am worried that it will make the car lose money because it is not the original colour.. i think it would look really sporty in black but i dont want to lose value on the car if keeping the original features is what gives the car value as i am keeping the car for as long as possible... any advice guys ? there is a little bit of rust on the car too .. thanks ! :O)

Did you pay alot for this capri ? I really think you should paint it whatever color you choose. A good paint job can only make the value go up, and besides it really isn't a very sought after collector car.

A 1982 Capri has only sentimental value at this point. It will cost you more than the car is worth to repaint either with the original color or with black. If you decide to repaint with a different color keep in mind that you have to spray the jambs too. When those jambs are repainted, it is very likely that you will have to purchase new door gaskets and other weatherstripping too, depending on your model. Those were wonderful cars in those days, especially the 5.0L!!!

I guess, when you change the original color of any vehicle it may cause to lose a little value .However , it really depends on the future buyer. In my opinion you can go ahead and change the color not only for the good look but also for to prevent the car from further rusting.
all ther best...
