If I eat 1300 calories a day and do one hour of cardio a day, can I lose the weight by my goal. Usually for breakfast I'll eat oatmeal or grits with turkey bacon and 2% reduced fat milk. For lunch tuna with a piece of wheat toast. For dinner I eat fish or baked chicken with mixed veggies and sometimes I might have sherbert for desert. It's hard for me to eat 6 meals a day because I'm a freshman in college and take alot of courses.

A lot depends on your size and present weight, but 1300 calories a day and an hour of cardio a day should do the trick. The diet you mentioned sounds perfect - you meet all the food groups. Drink as much water as you can - it hydrates you and fills you up at the same time. Drink a huge glass of water before a meal. I think it is wise that you started now, giving your body a nice pace to lose weight sensibly without doing any crazy starvation diet. Good for you!

Weight Loss Facts:

Low Fat Foods DON'T WORK.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight.

Low Calorie Diets DON'T WORK.

You won't lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt --- known as a dieting plateau). You can never get slim by starving yourself.

Low Carb Plans DON'T WORK.

You'll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb Dieting Plan. Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.

What about Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig Dieting Plans?

Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig) usually involve slower dieting progress over a longer period of time, since such programs generally promise only 2-3 pounds of weight loss per week. Also, programs such as Jenny Craig usually involve buying special meals and/or dietary supplements during the initial phases of the program. While some people may like these types of dietary programs, we prefer a dieting plan which focuses on faster weight loss, such as the Accelerated Fat Burning Program shown below...

Absolutely. YES.
I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far.
I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

I would definately suggest though not eating tuna everyday and substituding canned salmon somedays due to the mercury levels, and also making sure the bread you take in is 100% whole wheat/whole grain. The fiber levels in that bread kick butt, and it's a very good source of complex carbs.

I'd also highly reccomend apples and oranges in there, because they contain a lot of very good vitamins and nutrients, and apples are a great source of complex carbs also.

The only other piece of advice I'd give is to have target inches on various body parts, because if you include exercise, weight is very volatile as muscle weighs much more per volume than fat, and if you build 10 lbs of muscle from that much cardio in your legs or where have you, then you may be exactly the same size as you want to be, but 10 lbs higher.

Last, I'd make sure not to eat within 3-4 hours of sleeping, and stick with it. You'll definately be where you want to, and be much healthier habitually if you do. Best wishes!

Without knowing your age, weight, height, and basal metabolic rate, it would be impossible to say what your current program will do for you.

Losing fifty-five pounds in eight months is on the upper end of a manageable weight loss goal. That works out to just under two pounds a week, which, while a challenging goal, is not impossible. But without knowing the starting figures, I'd hesitate to recommend changes to your current plan.

I can say this: eat less, eat better, exercise more. You get to choose what foods and what activities that will work for you.

Yes you can!!!!

Helpful Tips for weight loss:

1)A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch

Keep to a 1,200 food intake

Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.

I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

2) Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.
