Ikea is inexpensive if you're looking for new furniture. Most of their stuff you have to put together yourself. It's designed for someone with the budget of a college student. They have some attractive furniture, but don't expect it to last for the rest of your life. It's great for when you don't have a lot of money and you don't need the furniture long-term.

Try craigslist.org for used furniture. If you look in the "free" section for your area, you may even find some decent used furniture. If you want to spend a little, look through the furniture section for good deals. Where I live, there are always plenty of pieces of furniture in the "free" section that would be great for a college student.

Salvation Army, Thrift shops in your area, consignment stores, yard sales, hey I've used boxes from Walmart purchases as end tables. Be creative, if it's free, it's me.
