of us, that he promises revenge and eternity in Hell if we don't caress his ego and tell him he is the greatest.

Any god that would torture people simply because they don't worship him and the "great" work he's done, creating a world full of natural disasters, death, and destruction, and knew that this would occur from the very beginning, is not one that anybody should worship.

At any rate, why would God be jealous? Yahweh is supposed to be perfect. How in the world can perfection be jealous of anything?

Annie- Please do explain what you mean by "jealous in a biblical context".

I think the meaning of jealous has changed slightly over the years.

No one can tell me what heaven or hell would be like. Dante's inferno is one vision of hell but I think the Buddhist's may be on the right lines when they suggest eternal contentment and Christians when they suggest Hell as eternal separation from God

Whiklst I believe that Christianity is the only true faith I do not believe other faiths are entirely wrong

Why would you not acknowledge or bow down to the very person who made you,put clothes on your back allow you to breath this very moment? If you were God and you did that very thing for me and I praised and glorified another person, wouldn't you too be jealous? You would think, oh no this person did not just turn their backs on me and I did all this and continue to do for them.

And I bet you would also say, if I continue to give and I don't get anything in return, why should YOU get the glorious things I promised to the ppl who do love and care for me. No, you don't get those things, you don't deserve them and YOU should spent eternity in hell.

Sweetie dont let the devil ever allow you to think you are better than GOD, because you're setting yourself up for failure. I pray you take heed to the words of Christ that are posted today and you repent so you dont have to think the way youdo now.

God speaks in a way to apply human feelings and emotions to himself so that people can understand him better. God is not really jealous in the human sense but he uses this word picture so people comprehend spiritual dynamics. It is the principal that really matters more. The more humans disregard His spirit, which is good, the more they will suffer consequentially.

God is Jealous against giving homage and service to false gods.
He is jealous like a parent would be if one of their children started putting more trust in some glib flatterer than in the parents that begot them and nurtured them from birth.
God knows His own good intentions.
I see you hold more to Satan's opinion of God than to that of Jesus Christ.

God isn't jealous of us, silly. He is jealous of other gods that we worship, and, by doing so, neglecting him. Aside from that, the little hissy-fits of hellfire unless we caress his ego apply soundly.

very good point, a true god would not require that he be worshiped because like it or not he's there. and if god is real and he is afraid as u say he is definitely hideing something big or just has a really huge ego.

It's not a god's ego you are appeasing, it is mens' egos from a religion that attempt to control others to gain social and political power.

Gods are a reflection of human beings, not the other way around. We created them to feed our impulses.

He must have an insecurity complex and a humungous ego. The old image to keep up I guess.
