I believe I am my own God. Not omnipotent, but just a God for me. I am my own Destiny and my own Fate. The only power higher than my own, that controls me is Nature.
Everything that happens to me is a result of my actions, direct or indirect.
Please challenge me on this, I need second opinions to strengthen or eliminate this belief.

Jesus Freak, is that meant to be a situational challenge? OK. I accept.
Through fasting, I will cause harm to many, as I will begin to feel hungry after so long without food. This hunger will cause me discomfort. That is the direct result.
My discomfort will begin to annoy me, and I will be a bit abrupt with others. Others may feel that I am being offensive to them, and they may retaliate of alienate me.
Indirect result.
As for prayer, I often do this in the form of meditation. I clear my mind, so that I may find and develop my inner self, seeking inner truth, and training my mind to open and become compassionate.
Thank you for your opinion. It is greatly appreciated. Indeed I did ask for it.

Actually, as it is raised so much, I will explain my position on God.
Whether or not He exists, God is not a higher power than me.
Everything I have read indicates that all of God's actions in relation to me depend on my actions. If God chooses not to spare me His wrath, it is a DIRECT consequence of my own actions, and therefore, I am in complete control of God.
Does that not mean that I am more powerful?

I'll clarify on Nature, too. If I become old, and die of natural causes, it is not a consequence of my actions. It is also not the result of a choice. It is the evidence of Nature having more power than me. The power to end my life, regardless of how I live it.

If you believe that your Higher Self is your sense of Source, then believe it. If, however, you believe that Nature controls you, then you are voicing a more feminine Goddess energy and are giving Nature your power. You are creating a dichotomy of belief with this. You are either your own God and have control over everything that happens to you, or something else can control you. You cannot have it both ways.
However, there is no need for you to be second guessing yourself, unless you do NOT truly believe in what you have written. I do believe that for every action there is an equal and sometimes even greater reaction. So every time you do or DO NOT do something, then yes, what happens is a direct result of that action or inaction, as the case may be.
As far as your destiny and fate are concerned, I might personally take issue with this, because I do not agree with it, but that IN NO WAY negates the value of your beliefs. I believe that destiny is clearly written for us. How we choose to meet that destiny, to allow our fate to unfold, is the beauty of this life in that we each get to pick our own path to take us there.
Journey wisely; journey strong; but whatever you do, journey the path of your choosing.
EDIT: SO, if Nature has more power than you, then you are not your own God. God is the Oneness of Us All, the All That Is. Uncontrolled. Flowing. Powerful. Nothing controls It. Including nature. If you were truly your own God, you could rise above nature's power and control it instead.
Sorry, Retro, I do not agree with this philosophy. Hope it works for you. *kisses* *hugs* LOLove.

Your beliefs are your beliefs, and what is true to you at the moment are your truths. If you are questioning it, though, they are not your truths, they are more akin to your assumptions.
I'll share some of my truths with you, if you would like to hear another perspective.
What people generally refer to as 'God' in its many translations, is a name put to an energy that is within everything: it is the hands that type this note and the thought behind these words. It is the ether in which these words exsist and the light reflecting off of this monitor. 'God' is the universe and we are 'God'.
By worshipping a god, you are focusing only on one very miniscule side of it, and are choosing to be led by others and taking the truths of others instead of searching for your own.
When you start to gain a concept of what 'God' really is, you no longer fear it or need to imagine some sort of 'eternal life' where you get to continue to be you. When you see that an end of life is a return to the energy that is all, you gain an entirely new perspective on what it means to Be, and what IS.
I can continue for a very long time, lol, but I'll stop here.
Good luck in your search.

I completely agree with the view of one being God. The problem is that some people call everything they don't understand, everything that gives them power and removes it from someone else, everything that might make them feel responsible for their actions Satan or for that matter, Satan's work. this is sheer immaturity in my opinion. You create, you destroy, you have free will, your destiny has yet to be written and no-one crosses your name out of some dumb old book. And yes, you're the direct result of your actions, this is a fact. You kill someone you receive your punishment, plain and simple. You're innocent till the minute you decide not be so anymore.

What a truly fascinating thought! I believe that we are immanent from our planet, that we are a part of IT, (He or She, or IT, for this answer), and that in that sense, each of us is IT. We can't escape from IT, and IT will take us back in the end. And I also believe that , for the most part, our destiny does lie in our own hands, bc we all make certain choices that end up taking us to whatever we will ultimately become. Sure there are some things that happen to us that are outside our control. But even if you get whammed by a typhoon, your injuries or death are the direct result of the typhoon, but the INDIRECT result of your decision to go to Thailand or wherever it happened.
a very good way of thinking about it, bc it really really encourages thinking about the personal responsibility each of us has in living our lives. It isn't up to some outside force, God/dess is not outside you in that He/She/IT controls your destiny. You control it, you are God/dess
cool!

"If what you seek you can not find within your self then, you will never foind it without yourself". A wise old Wiccan saying from the Charge of the Goddess by Doreen Valiente, also found in the Wiccan Rede. It may actually only be about 50 years old, but it's still wise, nevertheless.
Basically, it means, if you seek truth, peace, wisdom, love, acceptance, etc, then you will find it in yourself First. No one caqn make you happy, only YOU can do that for yourself.

Sounds rebellious to me, but you do take responsibility for your actions, which is admirable. Sounds like you don't want any authority over yourself, such as a God. This is not an unusual belief in todays world. Albeit, I don't agree, you will need to come to grips with your denial of God in your own time and on your own terms.
God Bless

This is not second opinion... when you have to face the consequences of your choices and actions and you realize you've been foolish and that you need help, you may notice the existence of something more powerful than you and your human Nature.

You are a god,but only in part.
You still contain remnants of your animal side.
When your divine side is in complete possesion of authority over your life, then may you assume such a statement.
But,unfortunately...this state cannot be achieved so easily.
You will become a bit better than a budhist monk...in that trance state he falls into,Nirvana !

I can make all kinds of assumptions about you now. I feel I know all about you; what you're like, what you're thinking, your political views, the state of your morals and how you like you're steak cooked.
Don't laugh. People read all kinds of crazy things into simple questions.
I do appreciate the fact that you believe in a higher power.Be true to your higher power.

I love it because it empowers you to make your own choices - for better or worse. I think that people who believe as you do are actually more moral than those who believe in god. You only get one chance to get it right - whereas, the religious folks can do what they want and hurt other people because they have Jesus who will atone for their sins.
No one is ever bailing me out, so I have no choice but to live morally.
