Tattoo ink is not toxic - no responsible artist would knowingly use a toxic substance to tattoo someone - I have 9 tattoos and not one of them has ever made me sick. (which is what I would assume would happen if tattoo ink was toxic in anyway.)
Since you are a teacher think very hard about the placement of your tattoo - somewhere not visible when you are dressed for work. Though I think most people would not care in the least you will get the occasional "nut ball" that will have a problem with their "little darling" being taught by a "tattooed freak."

Well, tattoo ink isn't toxic anymore (different inks used) so you don't need to worry about that. Allergic reactions to some colors like red are more common than any kind of actual infectoin. If you cover tattoos for work it shouldn't be a problem. Think about the placement and the types of clothes you wear. I'm going into teaching and have one tattoo now but plans for more so just think about everything but since you already have a job I assume, it is easier. As far as coloring, talk to an artist about an idea you have. They are the best judge of what will work and where on your body.

If money was flowing freely and I didn't have to worry about work, I would have most of my upper body done and possibly my feet/ankle areas tatted. As far as piercings, I'm not a huge fan of them for myself. I currently only have one hole in each ear and would think about dong a monroe if I could have something visible. Right now I only have 2 tats, but they're both pieces. My left side is a butterfly (quite large) and the wings are opposites of each other. Then I have 3 stars above and 3 stars below along with black shading that follows the flow of my body. I have only started the outline for my right side, but it is a sun and a moon half hidden behind clouds with a quote incorporated into it. The clouds are going to be real dark on the side with the moon and real bright on the side with the sun, I get more work on Tuesday and can't wait! I would really love to get a chest piece next, but it would be extremely hard to hide. I don't have to wear a uniform, but it would be hard to always wear clothing that covered my chest. I think I'll start my back after I get the one right now done, just for the fact that it's easier to hide. I've also thought about doing something small on my wrists that has significant meaning, but I'm not much of a jewelry person so it would be hard to remember to wear a watch and braclets everyday to keep them covered. I still will end up doing those, but the chest will have to hold off until I find a career where it doesn't matter or win the lotto! Which neither looks like a super great possibility, so for now I'll have to keep it a little consevative or be okay with covering up a lot more.

Tattoo ink isn't toxic, not sure where you get that idea. Currently there are two types of ink, Metal based or Vegetable based. Simply ask the artist which type they use. Always go with Vegetable based ink, never go with anything else, it's completely natural.
I'm 30 myself, and I'm also a small female. Since getting my tattoos, especially the one on the inside of my arm, no one has thought to treat me like a little girl ;)

Hey, I got my tattoo when I was 20 years old. It took me a long time to figure out what i wanted. If your going to get a tattoo really think about what you want because it is permanent. Because you are a teacher, I think you should get the tattoo were you can hide it with your clothing. I have my tattoo on my thigh. If I were shorts then it is visible. It also depends on the grade level you are teaching. I work with toddlers and infants. Some parents of this age group are not into tatts, or having to explain to their child what tattoos are, etc.

fyi: tattoo ink isn't toxic. so i have never had a concern about it's toxcicity. as for teachers wtih tattoos... there are plenty of teachers with tattoos but i'm sure most schools have a policy of not having visible tattoos. if you want to get tattooed just make sure you think on it long and hard and do your research about artists. crappy artists make crappy tattoos.

No toxic concerns for me. But I've had 2 teachers, both women in their 40's that have multiple, visible tattoos. One of them had one on the top of her breast. They were 2 of the favorited teachers. I think tattoos on teachers are very acceptable.

The ink they use is made to be inserted into the skin, I used to draw all over arms with pen & have never had ink poisoning. I think that is a myth, or an allergic reaction for people who are alergic to contrast dyes, and ink. Your parents tell you that when your a kid, so you wont draw on yourself.

You certainly need to make sure it can be covered, but if you are really serious you should certainly explore your desire. And definitely look for a good artist, especially if you want something really specific, not generic.
