I'm not into hunting, I like guns but not to do any harm to animals. If you are not wasting the animal then I understand, I was curious though which is a quicker kill and or less painful. I know my Uncle prefres a BO.

Do you know how exactly a bow or a shotgun kill animals? An arrows point will start cutting vessels and if you hit the heart/lungs, it suts them wide open, and they pretty much die from blood loss, and the split lungs/heart doesnt help it live either. A shotgun kills by brute force, in which when it hits the animal it sends them into shock because its a big chunk of lead that hits very hard. They die from that and the blood loss too. Some say shotguns are more humane than rifles and bows, but i cant possibly see that. I think bows are the most humane, and the most challenging.

This entirely depends on the hunter's skill level. Pretty much every hunter aims for a double lung pentration/ heart shot, bascially the same shot. And if your skilled enough it wont matter what you are using. A slug or a arrow succesful hit will cause death in just the same amount of time. Of course though shotgun has better chance than an arrow of being fatal than a missed arrow. So for your answer, good hunter no difference. Inexperienced overconfident bad shot hunter, the shotgun would be more "humane".

What is more human? Using your bare hands. What is more humane? As in causing less pain? I would say the shotgun, because not everyone is going to be proficient with a bow and arrow.

Bow and arrow or firearm in the hands of any hunter who practices regularly and knows the capability of either one will have no problem delivering a kill shot humanely*. One of the Whitetail Deer that I harvested with my bow only went a distance of eight*(8*) feet before expiring*.. A bow and arrow or firearm are lethal in the hands of any hunter who prepares for the kill shot and knows without a doubt he has prepared in advance to deliver it*

i would pick a high powered rifle over the 2. a bow and arrow is a slower death since you usually have to let them bleed out and die. a shotgun is ok, but the rifle more knockdown power, further distance, means quick kill.

Either is fine as long as you have good aim and make a kill shot!

What is more human??
I don't know....but, I personally don't think anything is 'humane' about killing animals or people for the sheer sport - or war - of it. -RKO- 08/12/07
