Anyone can get long hair, you just have to take really good care of your hair to keep it healthy and give it time. If you have a NATIVE AMERICAN (Indian is politically incorrect) then your hair will grow a bit faster, but I guess the problem with most black women's hair is all the chemical processing, etc., which damages it and doesn't exactly help it grow. Hope this helps. I'm half black but part Native American so...

Black women just have to let their hair grow and not cut it all off.Going to your stylist and getting a trim on a regular basis is all it takes.Taking good care of your hair makes all the difference in the world.Genetics has everything to do with what length your hair grows and at what rate. I think that it applies to everyone no matter what race you are.

I had long hair and my mom is black and so is my dad. the only indian in our family was the one in the books my mom bought and tonto from long ranger
just shows how ignorance is not bliss-i hope this helps to enlighten you. BTW if the person who told you this gave you more friendly advice you might not want to take it
UPDATE: Chemical processing has nothing to do with it-my sis and coworker have always had perms and they both hair long hair. one to her waist the other to the small of her back

Partially true, Yes if a someone is mixed significatly with another race, then the hair will be a mix of both races. Example, my friend is a 1/4 black, 1/4 native american, 1/4 chinese , 1/8 white, and 1/8 portugese. Her hair texture is similar to an Indians (not native american, from India) but red.
However black people can have long hair they just damage it too much with braiding, weaves and hot iron pressing. The BIGGEST culprit are relaxers, it fries the hair. If you keep is very moisterized and have regular protein/deep conditioning treatments, your hair shall grow. Remember how big afros got in the 70's? That is how to treat your hair. Natural or styled dreadlocks are bad too.

I won't call you names...but I do not agree with your position. I know many people who have long hair and many who do not.
For instance I have had hair as long as half way down my back and my sister's hair has only grown past her ears but we have the same parents.
The most important thing is to keep a lot of heat out of the hair and tie it up nightly.
Try using the supplement METHYL SULFONYL METHANE
(MSM for short). It is very good for the bones, hair and nails. I put a link below for you to look into this supplement.
Good luck with growing your hair....
p.s. I am not affiliated with this site nor do I receive incentives from them. This is just a starting point - please search the net for more info... thanks

You need to research this more. I am black and have very long, real hair! Why can't it happen? Because they are black? You are sounding quite ignorant, IMO! I know a lot of blacks with good grains of hair.

**** no. Black women can have long hair. Just that black women tend to perm and chemically f up their natural hair to make it more "managable". All they need to do to have long hair is to mositurize and stop using them small *** combs. Use wide toothed combs dammit!
Who the hell told you that anyway?

That is certainly not true at all, everyone's hair can grow long by themselves. It doesn't matter what race or the genetics you have.Everyone is the same inside & all of our hair grows.
