I agree with some of you. The war is a waste of time. And I do dilike Bush.
So sad.
All this for what exactly?

The conflict in Iraq will take decades to resolve.
How long the US sticks around is unrelated to that.
The earliest possible that we could get the majority of troops home would be 2009 -- if we start planning immediately. More likely, 2010 assuming another war-monger is not elected to office.

Listen sister recall the iraqi irani war during the 1980's do u know y it was started it was started bcoz ur country (if it is urs) asked sadam hussain to do so (remember the photo of ur former defence minister rumsfeld with sadam during the 80's) u guys loaded iraq with weapons then in 1991 when u asked to attack kuwait (it was a trap to get US troops in the middle east) sadam did it too
now after 9-11 (which i strongly beleive was an inside job) when u needed oil (by u i mean bush his friends and family which are involved in the oil business ) u stormed iraq by saying it had weapons of mass destruction (o plz plz plz plz plz tell where the heck are those weapons where r the WMD plz tell i really am very very sad when i am writing this) now load the raq sunni groups with weapons and say iraq war will end soon this is not going to end that soon sister
by ending the war americans mean getting out of there troops from iraq
sister americans can go out of iraq any time but what abt iraqi people whom lives r threatened bcoz of america attacked their country
the life in iraq is much more worse now than it was 10 years ago
what i think of ur question is that america will stay there as long as the bush is in the white house i hope somebody with a little more mind will come in the office INSHALLAH
u may rate my question as a bad answer but its the truth and u cant deny the truth
any body want to talk to me on this i am open (for now)

Most of the military believe it will take 9-12 months.
My son is an Officer & an Army Ranger & he says
that we will have them ready to take control of their own defense of that we will know they can never accomplish it within the next year.
I believe we will for the most part be home around Christmas 2008. My son will be home from Iraq then after a 15 month deployment, but I think he will bring his fellow soldiers then.
We did not go to Iraq because they have a different life style.
It has started to turn into a Civil War & will bring the US home. But Civil Wars do not always last forever a.k.a. the USA Civil War & etc. Global warming has not even been proven & little that man does has started or can fibisg global warming. However, the US has gotten Saddam (the murderer of a half a million people) out of office, it allowed the 1st ever Iraqi Democratic election, we helped them set up a Democratic goverment, it freed women from horrid treatment & mostly no terrorist attack on US soil & etc. - you get the picture. So many things have been accomplished & we are close to leaving.

a year or so ago, there was an excellent article about the war in the New Yorker magazine. it really explained a lot in simple sort of terms why we are there / how complicated it is and also the "political" side to it all. I wish I could find my soft copy of it as I would post it or email it to you. it seemed to give the opinion that this would be going on a long time.
I'm still not really sure I fully understand the issues or justifications.

I really don't think that the war over in Iraq or even the middle east areas is ever going to end. they have been going on for decades and I don't think that America is really doing any good over there at any of the places.
Just because the people over there have different opinions than us, does not mean that we needed to go to war with them. Not too long ago the US was helping and aiding Iraq in their wars and conflicts with other nations, but now Iraq turned and used our knowledge on us and so we must kill all the ones that think different from us. So, since this will never actually happen the wars and conflicts over there will never end.

I personally think the Iraq war is a waste of time. and we should really be concerned bout GLOBAL WARMING. Iraq was just a stupid idea. and the Americans should mind their own business & their OWN Country. What do americans care bout what Iraquiens (or whoever you spell it) do or dont do? and americans and iraquiens ARENT even one country. I just believe there are more important things then for Mr. Bush to start a war for no reason.

I first would like to thank the soldiers also they should be honored for all time. (that is all war vets)
but the war will end when some one get the nuggets (lower anatomy of the male gender) to pull the soldiers out and just push the button.

Like what Hamilton-Baker report says solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will end the Iraqi war. I think most people did not read the Hamilton-Baker report.
