Because those who minister and find it a sin (as God called it) will be forced to perform a homosexual wedding or be put in jail. It hasn't happened yet but some day it will.

I have no problem with it. Gays can marry anyway (I have a friend who was gay who got married in the 1970s), the government just doesn't recognize it. In other words, nothing can stop two gays from getting married.
As an ordained minister, no one can be forced to perform any wedding they don't agree with.
Being marriage is a religious thing, I don't think the government should be recognizing it anyway, unless they recognize all of them. From what I've seen, it all boils down to "my religion says it wrong, therefore it should be the law of the land." In my opinion, that's nothing but bigotry.

@ Fish: that's not true. Your church has the right not to marry whomever they don't want. It's the first amendment, you know, government infringing upon religion, etc?
Is your church required to marry two atheists? Satanists? No.
Marriage, in the United States, is a civil contract. If you need your god to approve or sanctify that marriage, that's between you, your God and your church.
I don't need God to sanctify my potential future hetero marriage; that's the beauty of freedom of religion.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10
"God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator— who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done." Rom 1:24-28
Jude 1:7 "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."
Heb 13:4 "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."
Furthermore Jesus said concerning marriage "at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’" of which he took as a precedent for marriage

partly due to the fact the we have a long way to go before heterosexual marriages are 'done' right. society is falling to pieces, and people don't seem to be able to keep relationships together. so now we have a section of society that wants us to accept that even homosexual unions are okay with God - when we haven't been listen/living by what God has been saying all along. i say, fine, if they want to have a legally sanctioned relationship, but don't demand that i accept that this is okay with God (i'm not there yet) but be prepared to suffer consequences that up to now, gay society hasn't put up with - such as an ex who will sue, and sue, and sue for more and more money!

I believe homosexuality and indeed homosexual marriage is against the will of God, as expressed in Scriptures.

Homosexuality is unnatural. They're promiscuous and spread disease with their filthy lifestyle.

Marriage is between a man and a woman.
Why would gays want to be "married" anyway? I thought they reject the morals of society. If I were in their shoes, I wouldn't want to mimic the rituals of mainstream society that abhors my behavior.
