Every day on YA.

Also in real life. And it will get worse, especially in the USA.

That verse increases my paranoia. I live in US and never never get any real persecution. It's hard to come by here. Sure people call me a fruitcake sometimes, and I appreciate that, but no one puts me in prison, a mental hospital, or tries to behead me. Does that mean I'm not a true Christian? I worry sometimes.

I don't believe that because people don't like me or my religion that I am being persecuted. I've never had to lay my life on the line for my beliefs and many many Christians have, even in this generation. If someone doesn't like my religion and loudly says so, I know it's not personal. Some groups of people believe they are persecuted or discriminated against because others don't mix with them socially. Why does everyone have to like us. The law is on our side, and and everyone's equally in US and that should be enough.

Yes, just hang out on YA in the R&S section. Not all hate and persecute Christians...but look at our world today. Especially in the USA.

There are those that want to remove God from everything. Just fifty years ago, we could pray in school, say the pledge of allegiance and the 10 commandments were in public buildings.

People ask why crime is getting worse and the criminals are getting younger and younger...well, we've asked God to step aside. As a gentleman, He has.

Our society has become more and more secular...and we are reaping the consequences. The scriptures tells us, we reap what we sow.

Christian converts around the world are threatened with their life after the coversion. Some die...some are shunned...but because they know the truth, they will not turn back.

Peace and grace to you!

Actually, Jesus never said "True chrisitans" would be hated. It just says anyone that believes in him. People have added the 'true' part to the verse. "If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you to not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world--therefore the world hates you." John 15:18-19

Christ warns us that there are some people that simply won't agree with us. I've had people refuse my friendship soley based upon my religious beliefs. It doesn't really bother me. If someone wants to be that petty, then they are certainly allowed to do so. Matthew 5 tells us to praise God when we are cursed or persecuted. So, that I shall do.

Yes, actually in many places in Scripture it is written, esspecially toward the very end just before Antichrist comes (that would be right about now and forward); Matthew 5:11
is clear about the hate and persecution. It also states that they will reverse that and accuse US OF BEING THE HATERS.
Seen any of that lately? Prophecy is being fulfilled at such an alarming rate that watchers can bearly keep up with it.
Anyway, I have not personally been attacked except for one time, but I really consider it very, very funny: this is what happened:
There was this guy in our neighborhood who said he was a wiccan priest of sorts.
He came to my home and said he wanted to date my daughter, but that I would have to first denounce Jesus Christ. Naturally, I told him exactly where to go. He did leave, but yelled at me that he was putting a spell on me that would not only make me denounce Christ within the month, but also
cause me great pain and suffering. A few weeks later while I was with co-workers at a luncheon at a restaurant/bar, lo and behold, there he was at the bar. He started toward me across the restaurant, finger pointing and saying something I didn't quite get, but anyway, although there was absolutely nothing there, he fell down and broke his forearm, elbow and wrist. Today, fifteen years later, I still await the terrible upset
and pain of his so-called "spell"!

Hated? Yes. Persecuted? I don't think so. I mean, compared to the persecution that Christians are going through in other countries, being insulted online by non-believers really wouldn't qualify compared to having my finger nails torn off, intestines ripped out, eyes torn out of their sockets, and emasculated.

Yes, especially here on Yahoo! Answers. In many of the religion questions, you will see Atheists with negative thoughts, opinions, and reactions against Christians

All the time on Y!A.

Once someone posted a 'question' stating something like, "Christians, I'm going to **tch-slap every last one of you" or something to that effect.

LOL at a Christian response (something like): "Well thank you very much, because the bible says blessed are those who are persecuted for Christ. So I can always use more slaps."

Now when someone posts mean/disrespectful questions, I include that Bible verse in my response.

OMG!
All you have to do is read some of tis forum for a while to understand the animosity and contempt that some people people have towards Christians. It's a subtle form of persecution, but it doesn't end with Christians.
Anyone with a strong faith is subject to it.

Try being a Christian Missionary in Tanzania, Yemen, India, the Sudan, or dozens of other countries. There you will find ample examples of overt Christian persecuation.

My experience doesn't rank with "persecution", but I believe I experienced hatred. When I was with two other people offering gospel tracts at a public park, a man yelled at all of us, "I resent you people handing out that crap in my park".

Matthew 5:10 says:
"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Hate and persecution are ravaging Christian movements in areas like Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Thankfully, Western Christians enjoy a liberty of expression, but persecution and hate are still abundant on a personal level. People have made fun of me for choices I made for Christ; no one has ever tried to kill me, but in today's society, being an easy target for insults and discriminatory hate has it's fair share of inconveniances.

Read 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10:

"9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10: Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."
