I'm adopting a 1 1/2 year old from Detriot and she'll be living with me and my 7 week old daughter in LA. What theemed room should I do? I am using a crib because that's what they say she's used to. Here are some of her intrests:
Fairies
Pixies
Winnie the Pooh

I think your right about Winnie the Pooh. I had Winnie the Pooh from the start because my parents didn't know what I was going to be and when I got the toddler bed, Winnie the Pooh/

Congratulations on the adoption. I was adopted at birth from the Philippines but didn't come to the states until I was six.
I have always wanted I theme room as a little girl and I think fairies are a way to go maybe tinkerbell. You could pick a basic color for the wall and do a mural of some kind on the wall her crib will be. The key is to make it inviting and comforting for her it will all be new and a little scary for her at first so a common thing you both could have right a way is to talk about how beautiful and cool her room is. Buy her some peter pan books and pick a scene with farires and tinker bell to get you going.
Good luck and a lifetime of happiness for you family.

fairies are fun and would go really well with pink or a lavender, some colors that would still look well even if you redid the room. Winnie the Pooh would be so cute for the girls if you decorate three walls in like a light green and the other wall with a mural of the Hundred acre woods, or something fun like that...then have their cribs be decorated with winnie the pooh items...that you would most likely have to redo...
good luck with your room...and your new daughter!

Congratulations! I think if you go with fairies and pixies it will last longer. As cute as Winnie the Pooh is she'll probably grow out of it pretty fast. I'm finding that now with my almost 5 year old son. I went too cute with his decor when he went to a toddler room and now he is wanting it changed again already.

I used precious moments as my room theme. On the back wall I had wallpaper that looked like the sky( The whole wall). The precious moments kids were on a border around the entire room except on the back wall. The room color was a dark yellow a happy color and it was beautiful. The only reason why it is not the same now is because we moved. My daughter wants her room done the same way again. Maybe sometime soon I will have time to fix it the same way, and she is eight now. I wonder if she will ever grow out of it? Every one that came to the house loved it and took pictures to copy it for their children. I hope this helps... Good Luck!!

I have 2 little girls and have found it easier to keep the theme to things like pictures and sheets and decorative pillows. Things that are easily and inexpensively changed when their taste changes. Things like furniture and bedspreads I try to keep one basic color (i.e.- just a plain pink bedspread or all white furniture) although you can do something fun with material and texture. At 1 1/2 yrs. old she will quickly find many things to love and want to change- just keep it kid friendly and simple- a big picture frame you can fill with her art or an unbreakable mirror at her height are fun. My girls like it when I hang things from the ceiling of their room like butterflies or flowers. If you really want to go all out- kind of combine the things she likes- maybe Disney themed. Disney pictures including winnie the pooh characters and tinkerbell and disney princesses are easy to come by.

i think it would be nice to paint her room in a very light airy colour like pink or lilac with plenty of storage. i 'd stay away from winnie as it will date quickly she needs a room which will grow with her as well as feel like her own so how about taking her to look for extra things for her room. even a 1 1/2 yr old knows her mind. most little girls like fairies and floor cushions pretty pictures storage boxes on the floor that she can get to and lovely mobiles hanging from the ceiling. enjoy your new daughter

My room is pink (the walls) and orange (the closet) Its a cool combination. I have hot pink, green, blue, and basically lots of bright pillows, fuzzy stuff and, a pretty mirror. Because soon enough, you 7 year old will be a girly girl. They'll both LOVE it!!! How about a pretty big faerie on the wall? Fairy/pixie decor? Non-real characters painted too?

I would definatly do winnie the pooh. Nearlyt every place has something themed with WInnie the Pooh, so it'll be easy to come by.
The following Room is from walkmart:

If the murals on the wall are a bit too much, just paint them a ntural and hang these on it:

Good luck! Congrats on the baby!

Pooh is best at that age. when she is older 7-9 you can ask what she wants and change it then.

I would go with pixies or faries, because It is an intrest for children (mostly girls) of all ages, who knows you might not have to change it for a while.
Wow that sound so great. I am happy for you and I pray you have a blessed life with her. :D
