No. If taken responsibly and in moderation, it has medicinal applications. When used with a vaporizer (instead of smoking it), it is a wonderful means of controlling some pain, such as the pain of neuropathy that many diabetics and cancer victims have. Also, it can be good for migraines and can be a good apetite stimulant.

jesus. do research. its a medicine. while most people are popping pills the dr hands over - that they cant even pronounce nor say whats in them - and smoking cigs and driving around in SUVs.. tell me what is something that grows form the ground - that has no additives and has been known to help with nausea, pain, head aches, insomnia, stomach aches, and also eating disorders. i dont feel people have done enough research. the only reason pot is illegal is cause the war on drugs. the gov't does not want to admit they were wrong about this PLANT.
a plant that can be used for: running cars, clothing, medicine, cooking, -- i mean i could go on!!
so lets say is all of a sudden roses, dried up, and we smoked them, and got a high - roses would then become illegal? oak tree leaves? dandelions? monkey grass? palm trees? i mean.. prisoners snort nutmeg for a high for christ sakes.
anything that you ABUSE will have along term effect!!
..also for those saying - it makes you sick, paranoid, etc - many many many MANNNYYY people are allergic to THC and these are some symptoms from that. i ad a friend overdose on THC cause she was highly allergic to it that she was hospitalized for a couple days.

So i don't any more.futher more your boy friend does it alot. if he was to go clean you will see a diffrence in his personalty he will go through withdrawl. i did its harder to be straight that just get stoned.also they say most canabis these days have tons of toxic chemical in the weed its self. you see 35 year ago it was naturaal. now it has toxic chemical that we are not informed about. if your so . concerned study the internet type in what your question say educate your self. p.s. if you can find organic weed then that should be fine, non toxic.-most weed is grown under floresent lights.in secret places eg: basments people cant even live there. It is positivily wrong.

Seriously, i'm going to be harsh. Cannabis is not a good thing to start, in fact no drug is good to start. I cannot speak from past experience but i watched a program the other day about a man who was a really good father, a brilliant husband and very social. But once he had smoked the drug, he was the opposite of all of those. He abused his wife infront of his son and then lied about it to his Dad. The drugs had horrible affects on him, he almost killed his Dad, as murder not as an accident, he lost his job, his wife and kids. He was generally a broken man afterwards. Then at the end of the program, he was a different man once he had quit the drugs, he was doing speeches infront of an audience of college students and even though he lost his wife and kids, he could still go up to them and talk to them, even hug them. In my view that gives a good look into how much drugs can affect someone, even if they don't appear to affect them when they have not been taking them. I guess my advice may be wrong in your mind, but in mine, they are strong views.
Hope my answer helped :D

without assuming, maybe you could ask why he smokes cannabis - is it just habbit, or does he feel like he needs to relax/escape or get happy because he can't do this any other way. don't feel you can't have an honest convo with him about this - your relationship is serious and what he does, especially as it is on a regular basis, affects you.

not only the bad things mentioned previously but the people that you have to deal with are a problem, usually people that are in undependable, liars and lazy..and most dealers of weed also have customers that are into the heavier stuff. And speaking of heavier stuff...weed is usually the first door to the heavier drugs...speed, crank, crack, heroin...etc
One more effect that was not mentioned earlier.... pot smokers tend to believe as fact the stories that they make up... I have heard my ex arguing with people that were not in the room, he says it is his way of sorting it out..ok that is fine but than later he would start believing what he thought was said.
I think the amount of pot smoked plays a big role in the above scenario... I know a lot of people that smoke and all of them are not this bad, I know two by experience and a couple more from "hear-say".
I hope it works out for you... Good luck. Beware... if you try to tell him/her this they will not believe you and will deny it and think your crazy.

My mom has smoked all her life and she has had no problems so far and she's 54. Personally i like it because it will calm you down or it's great for upset stomach, cramps, pain, sleep, etc... There have been many studies and the researchers want you to believe that it is dangerous. The goverment keeps it banned because they have yet to figure out how to make money off of it. I think it was put on earth for a reason, the indians smoked it and many other cultures have used it and hemp has many good uses. To me the world would be a better place if everyone smoked when they got up then everyone would not be so uptight during the day.

I am afraid it is quite bad, and if you are keeping up with the press, it is getting worse as the drug is sold in higher and higher strengths. This is a good idea as far as the pushers are concerned as it is much more addictive and increases their sales.
It is said now to produce psychosis in 40% of users. Additionally in 100% of chronic users it produces brain atrophy = shrinkage, this produces and accelerates dementia.

Use of cannabis has been found to be the cause of mental illness in many many cases. Fact. Get him to give up NOW before he's affected, and ruins not only his but your life.

The long term effects are massively increased risk of psychosis and associated mental disorders. It obviously depends on how much he is using and how often, which you dont specify.
