I've only been going on it about once a week or every other week which SURELY isn't enough. What can I do to get motivated? Yes, music helps, but what else?

Look at urself in the mirror when you have time and look how fat you are, that should motivate you... (not trying to be mean... thats what works for me) lol ... and while on the treadmille, just think of how much weight you could lose if you just stayed on! Max- 30 - 50 mins a day on tread.

Just start. I've been working out for about 15 years now both while at home in the states and overseas when work calls for it, and let me tell you, working out in 130 degrees is NEVER fun. heheh

The best advice I can give and that I have found works is, Just start. Tell yourself you are at least going to start the workout and give it a try. 99.9 % of the time you'll get into the swing/mood of things within 5 - 10 minutes of activity and you'll almost always feel better afterwards.

Just my 2 cents here but since you've bought a treadmill I can only assume that you had cardio/fitness/calorie burn thoughts in mind, so here is my little remedy for kick-starting the system and burning up to twice the calories in a day vice not using this system....

Start your day off with just black coffee, the "black" coffee part is very important to the success of this program simply because if you add the "fillers" for coffee you only add more calories to burn away and it is somewhat like working against yourself. Second follow a cup or two of black coffee up with 20 - 30 minutes of moderate intensity cardio. This will get your system kickstarted the right way and have you feeling good the rest of the day as you burn up to twice the calories you normally would without the caffine/cardio starter.

Follow this up with a sensible breakfast (i.e. No McDonald's/B.K.) and you should see results in 3-4 weeks. Earlier if you add a second nice/brisk walking session, say, during your favorite TV show or movie, 30-45 minutes in the evening before dinner and you will see results that will have the rest of the office/playgroup/PTA/etc...... wondering what you're up to. =] I hope that this helps is some fashion or another.

We all, if we're honest with ourselves know what we should do. Still, we can't seem to get the motivation to take action. The problem lies in the fact that as humans we love the status quo no matter how difficult or disgusting the result may be. It's simply a matter of preferring the known to the unknown. The way out of this quagmire is to do something small. I needed to exercise but instead of starting with this big involved exercise regimen, I started with riding my stationary bike for 5 minutes. Over time, I naturally increased it to 10 minutes then longer until I'm now doing 10 miles a day 5 days a week. Do I like it? NO but it's part of my routine now so it gets done. FWIW, I don't think you're lazy. You may think that whatever you need to do is pointless to your overall happiness. Add that to our desire for things to remain constant and soon inertia can develop and we think it's a lack of motivation. One thing you really should consider however is learning about depression. Many people suffer from depression and mistakenly think it's laziness or a lack of willpower.motivation. Here's a link to an on line depression test that may give you some insight on the illness.

If you have a tv infront it helps a LOT. a good show or movie you wont even notice that youre on the treadmill. i guess some mental motivational things you can try are picturing the body you want. or you can break it up to 40 minutes a day so it doesnt take too much time. the first 20 minutes you are just burning carbs and sugar, after that you are burning fat so make sure youre on the treadmill for 20 minutes +. good luck!

For me, I wait Intel night time when I'm watching TV and see all the smaller girls, I size I want to be is when I start wanted to get up and workout. When you start to see you jeans not fitting to well that will motivate you more just take some time if you need to. Maybe put 2 pics in you kitchen one of a VERY fat girl and one of what you would like to look at. So when you are looking for some fating snack you will see them and think again about what you want to snack on. I hope this helps a little

Nike+ all the way.
If you buy the shoes and the sensor, then it gives you targets, and allows you to track your progress.
I'm getting kitted out with Nike everything.
The shoes are expensive, but it's worth the buy.
I'm sure you've heard about Nike+ it's definitely worth a try if it gets you motivated.

setting goals and keeping to them.

challenge yourself to work out harder everytime you get on it.
try to go further or use more calories on the counter.

get a clip board, and write down what you have accomplished-- distance/calories in a certain amount of time.

when you go to bed tell your self you are going to do more the next day and try to beat your last record / like try to run faster for a short period to get more distance, try a higher incline to burn more calories, right down your accomplishments, when you reach a peak, add more time and start over.

give yourself a goal and when you reach it /reward yourself with some small thing, like a cookie, a new colgne, a ride out in the country something that you can say I deserve this...

good luck

I watch the food network, I get utterly engrossed by food shows for some reason and find half an hour has passed, and I now know how to make a crepe.
