Feeling weak all the time. pale gums. pale inside the eyelids. yes, your periods can stop. You can buy ferrous oxide pills from the pharmacy and these are cheaper than buying branded iron pills. You will feel better in a few days.

Most patients are symptom free, but the commonest symptom is tiredness. Ironically ( no pun intended), patients who are anaemic experience heavier than usual periods!

Feeling weak and fainting.Looking at the whites of your eyes if they are a yellow colour these are signs of low iron. You need to eat spinach liver and if it is very low.You will probably be prescribed Ferrous sulphate by your GP.

Signs of low iron/anemia include exhaustion, pale (not pink) finger tips, and pale (not pink) color under eyelids. You can also develop pica (craving for ice or other non-food items). It is best to see a doc for a blood test though, especially if you are missing your period.

Wrinkled clothes?
Seriously, though, click on the iron deficiency links, below (and if you're asking this question to find out if iron-poor blood will prevent menses, either out of discomfort or to prevent (or encourage?) pregnancy, then don't even think about it!).

My mum is anemic (low iron) and i am bordering it.
I'm 17 on the chart and -16 is anemia.
You look pale, your fingertips become pale, you feel tired, dizziness, heavy periods..etc.
People take iron tablets/mulitvitamins to prevent this and eat alot of cabage and red meat....but it doesnt work for me......im a veggitarian.
Sorry just had to have a dramatic end!
Hope this helps.
