the fake owl idea is a good idea. it will prevent the birds from roosting there.

I would try to have the true pruned a bit and cut the branches off that are hanging over the car and driveway if possible. They do make realistic looking owl statues that you can put on fences or in trees to scare the birds away, but I'm not sure if it would work. Maybe something motion-activated that would make noise?

EDIT Farmhouse, eh? Well, that doesn't mean that they don't see you as being wealty-er than them... -- impressions that you need to share your space. I have a 99-yr old, nearly blind grandfather that lives ALONE god bless him in Lakewood, NJ... and a neighbor across his street parked in his driveway (once I took my grandfathers license & car away, when he was 92..). They said their "50 yr old son just moved in, with them and doesn't want to park his car on the street." And they noticed, there's no car across the street... I said, my grandfather is a sweet old man -- but I am not. And I don't want to hear that a car is there again, for reasons I don't have to tell you, ok? They could have answered any way they wanted to -- but didn't say a word after I gave them my business card and told them to have their Son CALL ME when he wants, if he's got an issue with it. And the car was never again parked there -- or, on the other side of the street, for that matter. No one wants trouble, where they live over anything.. but, when the Other Side SEES you as people that would rather NOT have trouble (let's say, like Iran thinks of America after allowing those 5 boats to threaten our Navy)... they are capable of bad judgment, because they want to get-away with something and see you as "weak". But, sometimes TROUBLE COMES TO YOU and if you're not strong up front, you can get overwhelmed by it... as time goes on. (Which is why JFKerry, and any DNC candidate not named Biden -- and THAT is sad to say! -- had/has less chance of winning, once they talk foreign policy.) You have an opinion about yourself, like you're a loudmouth or able to get your way outside of your household -- but, you know they don't see you that way. And your husband is probably fairly wimpy for this to happen... and be bitten by the neighbor's dog (how does that happen?)... really, HOW DOES this get to this level? that first night/day it was "too much"-- you should have said what's done & not done. Seems to me, that people TODAY simply don't care to get to know their neighbors... and that has an affect, when anything goes wrong. You can't build a relationship, after a bomb. Rest assured, these neighbors probably talk to your OTHER neighbors.. too. This is a problem, and I know it's easy to just shut your door and forget it -- which is what you were doing, more or less. You can tell them that you don't want cars there -- otherwise you'd have some yourself... but words may not affect these people. They care little, on their own.. and ThAT SAYS A LOT! Calling the local police may help, but will set a tone that you're not ready for, otherwise you'd have done it, already. (Anger, will be met with their retaliation to be sure.) They even might have their dogs start pooping on your property -- you might be in for a mess, ahead. The easiest thing might be to install an electric gate or a wood fencing (and expect it to be vandalized).

Either stop parking under that tree or get a car cover.

Not really, since it is their home.
Use a car cover. You could try putting a stuffed owl in the tree, I suppose.

don't ask silly questions. it's a tree, they are birds, it's called nature. i can give you obvious answers. cover your car with a tarp. build a carport, garage or park your car elsewhere. it's a tree, where would you like the birds to go?

Don't park under the tree or cover your car up at night...not much you can do to stop nature.
