Should I get another cat to keep her company? When I'm home I always pet her, and sometimes try to play with her but 90 percent of the time she doesnt like to. If I throw a tinfoil ball she usually chases it, then immediately stops and lays down. She is no fun and doesnt even like to hunt.

we got her when she was around 2 months old, she used to be semi energetic but for the most part has always been a bum. She seems lonely as all she does is sleep in teh same spot, eat, and thats it. She is over weight. When I first got her I had another cat and they got in a big fight, I then got rid of that cat when I moved (about 4 months later.) I dont remember how well they interacted with eachother as i was a little kid, but I'm thinking of bringing my cat to my friends house, he has two 4 year old cats, and a brand new kitten he also found on the streets, its even teh same colors as my cat.

I also used to have two labrodor retreivers, my cat got along well with these dogs, she would even sleep next to them at times, but for the most part was frightened most likely due to teh size. My cat is not mean, she is one of the nicest cats you'll meet, only she doesnt like to be picked up and will meow and squirm if you do.

She is a street cat and probably has had enough of hard times survival. How great that you rescued her and are giving her a life of leisure. Be proud that your cat is so happy. Keep on petting and loving her. She has a nice quiet personality, and she may be older than you think.

Cats are highly territorial, which is why she never accepted the other cat. Dogs on the other hand are less worried about territory. To them, their place in the pecking order is much more important. This is why she got along with your dogs. She probably felt in charge of territory, but was never interested in challenging your dogs to become the Alpha member of the pack, and so the dogs accepted her as being a non threatening member of the pack.
I think she sounds perfectly content to be the only cat, so why upset things? Cats are creatures of habit, and the older they get, the more difficult they find it to adjust to changes in the home or the daily routine. She could become very stressed or angry if you introduce a new cat into your home. It's natural that she will be less active as she gets older, and cats of all ages spend most of the time laying around. I think they're saving up their energy for that mad burst of running around that they all seem to enjoy late in the evening or during the night.
If she hasn't been seen by a vet recently, then it might be worth taking her for a check up just to make sure all is well.

Some cats just aren't playful. It does sound like you pay her enough attention so it could just be her personality.
If you think she's lonely, and you like cats, you could get a shelter kitty near the same age and temperament for both of you. Also look at the food you're feeding her. A high-quality cat food like Innova or Wellness (meats in the first three ingredients, no corn, wheat, or soy products and no glutens or concentrates) can make a big difference. We changed our cats' diets and they're much more energetic, muscular, and playful.

We have a cat like that. She was found in a cemetary. She is pretty lazy and not much of a player. We got another cat to add to the family and to also help bring her out of her shell. Turns out, hates other cats and completely avoids our other 2. But that is just how my cat is, yours may like having another cat. If you choose to bring in another cat, make sure that the introductions are done very slowly and that each cat has their own space to retreat to. Cats are alot harder to integrate together than integrating 2 dogs. It can take months for cats to get along to the point where they do not want to kill eachother.

just be content with her, she's happy. I had the same thing happen, I could even pick him up by the cscruff of the neck shake him, nothing.
So I decided to bring in a cat to see if he was lonely! Topaze, let the fur fly buddy. The other cat ran up the walls, over the furniture, over the shower curtains, and landed under my couch. Topaze lay in wait at the other end. My boyfreind at the time decided he would grab one cat while I grabbed the other. He round up with an 8 inch scratch down his arm, that looked like a race track for the hot wheel cars.
Nah, leave your kitty be, she's happy trust me.

She sounds like a normal cat. I have one that is going to 18yrs old, ancient for a cat. He doesn't chase the balled up paper any more either and hasn't for years. His hip joints hurt and he has bladder stones, but he loves to be petted and he sleeps with me. But it sounds like if he tries to chase the ball, but lays down right away, maybe your vet should take a look at him. Possible joints are hurting, maybe an anti-inflammatory can help. Inexpensive and effective.
Hope this helps

Age shouldn't factor into offering the final preserve your animal. in basic terms with the aid of fact he's youthful, does not advise he's wholesome. the actuality that the vets won't be able to make certain what's incorrect, ability that he's suffering with none alleviation. that's particularly as much as you, yet from the sound of issues, he's now no longer having a sturdy high quality existence and he's spending his time crying out in discomfort... i might evaluate euthanizing him. youthful or previous, there is largely plenty a residing creature could desire to could desire to bear.

At this age most cats turn rather lazy. She may not enjoy the company at first, but as soon as they get used to each other, I think they'll be better together.

no no no. your cat is haughty and prideful. if you bring another cat in the house they wil constanly fight and kill each other possibly. cat are very territorial animals. so enjoy the company of your lazy cat. i have an energetic one too and its a hassle sometimes. plus your cat is middle aged. they live to be only like 12-14. so just let her be but dont bring in another.

hmmmm... well, i would try catnip, it'll get any cat going! maybe you should let her do things that she normally wouldn't be allowed to do, like sleep in your bed.pet her softley when shes sleeping, most cats enjoy that immensley! As for the overweight problem, get some pills from your vets office. i hope that helps!
