Yep. The folks that race 'em. Try buying name brand, good aftermarket pro speed equipment for 'em and then see how much you could've saved on Chevy parts... my blood still runs Chevy Red.

Plain and simple every automobile manufacturer has had their share of vehicles that were otherwise unsightly or had their fair share of problems. I don't think it's fair to single out Ford. Go into another forum and ask this same Q but put in another manufacturers name and i'm certain you'll get some negative responses about their vehicles. And to all you Ford haters, get a grip with reality. It seems like the word Ford triggers some kind of malfunction in your brains that maybe a therapist can help figure out! I own a 98 f-150 that has had water up to the windows, the only thing i did was change fluids. It has been 3 years since this incident and i have 175,000 hard miles on the truck and it still starts on the first try! God i love that truck!

About ten years ago I read an article in Motor Trend Magazine and they did testing to deter min the 10 best motors for strength and potential horsepower. The top 2 were ford, I believe Boss 429 and 427 super cobra jet, then it was Dodge 440 then ford again, it could have been a Chevy next I can't quite remember. In the test price was no object. This is an independant magazine.
In racing the rules have been continuously changed so that fords would not dominate. I remember restrictor plates being added in nascar, reducing ford horsepower by about 15% more than any other makes. The GT 40 was dominating in the sixties so they changed the rules in Lemanns. In drag racing they limited displacment so that 454s could be bored out and 460's couldn't.
Chevies are good cause you can build them way cheaper, plus alot of engine parts can be swapped around from dif sized motors, while ford parts mostly only work on the same size engine. The only thing that bugs me about Chevy in the sixties is how they took the same frame and running gear and just stuck a bunch of different bodies on it.
I have great respect for Dodge now. If it wasn't for them the muscle car would still be just a niche item. Before they started pumping out vipers and prowlers cars were only putting out 210, 225 horses. Dodge raised the bar and started the rebirth of the musclecar.

I know we build good cars. Our quality is up and the prices are down. Ford has had some trouble with our suppliers. The Firestone deal with the tires was a serious blow to Ford and quite costly for us.

People have lost confidence in Ford and it will take some time to regain it. Ford is trying to improve and forcing our suppliers to improve also.

I hate to see anybody trash the American Automobile industry. There are a lot of good people working hard to bring you the best cars that they can. That includes Ford, Chevy, and even Chrysler. America needs these jobs to keep the economy going strong. The salaries and the taxes that the employees pay help everyone earn their living too. If you want to trash someone, then look at the foreign car companies that are non union and are not paying the benefits that the old Big Three are doing.

I'm not going to argue with statistics, Ford has had higher quality and reliability ratings for the past year for every car company except for Honda, but they're slowly closing the gap.
Ford has reported higher sales than GM and Chrysler, LLC (Formerly Daimler-Chrysler) for the past quarter, and are maintaining their sales.
I've personally owned 6 Fords, put over 100,000 miles on each of them, and never had any problems with any of them, other than the typical Ford rust on an 1988 Escort. I have owned a 1997 Suburban that fell apart because of the dirt roads which are hell on all cars.
So, as an owner from everything from an Mustang to an F-150, I've had nothing but good luck from Ford, and I'd be proud to back them.

Overall, Fords are the most reliable American cars. Look at Edmund's, JD Power, Consumer Reports, etc. They will give you good hard facts showing Ford to be significantly more reliable than their cross town rivals GM and Chrysler. In fact, Ford is approaching Toyota's reliability record. Sure, Ford has had it's fair share of stinkers over the years, but who hasn't? Porsche, Mercedes, Honda, Chrysler, and especially GM all have. Ford did have a lot of problems in the late 90s, including the Firestone debacle, but look at the progress they are making.

Ford has made some "sucky" models, but overall as a car/truck, they are good in my book.
Like remember the straight 6 in the pre 1997 F-150.
Many are still on the road.
And there have been some stinkers, like the Aspire (think they would of learned from the Fiesta)
And the ever popular "fire trap", the Pinto
Any car company makes crap along with classics.
Like the Mustang. Now how can you complain about the Mustang?
With exception of the idiot that almost made it a FWD and they smartly made it a Probe.
Hope they finally fired whoever it was...

This isn't really a question, and Fords have been far and way the most reliable cars we've ever owned. And don't be mislead, the Taurus was the best selling car in the US for years. A car company A) wont be able to sell a crappy car, obviously, and B) won't keep it in their lineup for almost two decades if it 'sucks'.

Really depends on which model your talking about (if your talking about Taurus's then yes they are crap). They do have some good vehicles like the Crown Victoria, Mustang. Anyway I believe that all the companies make good and bad cars so to say anyone "sucks" or "rules" is a ignorant statement.
