Christianity preaches that in order to become safe from hell, you must believe in Christ. However, to other religions, we are shoving our religion down their throat. In our view we are letting them know about the gospel so they can go to heaven instead of suffering in hell.

Are some Christians being malicious about sharing their religion, or do other religions just see it that way?

We are responsible for one thing. We are responsible for telling others about Christ. We are NOT responsible for making sure that they accept Christ. That is up to them. That is up to the Holy Spirit to come to them in his time. We are only required to plant the seed. We cannot make it grow. That is up to God.

Many Christians get the idea that we are required to make sure that someone is saved. We are not. In this case, many people end up pushing religion on others because they honestly believe it is their duty to do that. This is NOT what Christ commanded. Christ told us to share the gospel, not shove the gospel. We should let them know about the gospel, but the choice is up to them -- not us. We are not held accountable for the choice that someone else makes.

Instead of trying to convince nonbelievers they are going to hell, which to me is secondary issue, we should try to make them see what a good life they can have by following the steps of Jesus. We don't need to tell people about their sins. They already know. We are suppose to hold forth the good news that Jesus came to give us 'abundant life' in the here and now. Jesus had much more to say on how to live THIS life than He did the next.

it is one thing to say "hey, I believe in God, would you like to know more?". it is quite another to say "yeah, well, you don't share my beliefs so you're going to burn in a firey hell for all eternity because you didn't listen to me and i am right and everyone else is wrong".

i have suffered both approaches and everything in between since I was 7 years old. as long as the person stops talking about the subject if I ask they stop, I have no problem with wanting to share the joy you find in religion with others.

Sharing beliefs is what this site is about. There is a difference between sharing and stating that you are exclusively right in what you believe. I respect you for the faith you have but I think many of us would be grateful if Christians could also respect beliefs that are different from their own.

Chin up, dear!

Those attacks are just the devil's way of trying to seperate us from God.

Keep spreading the good news of God.

If people don't like it they can always go to another section besides Religion and Spirituality.

Hugs,

You don't get shot down for caring, you get shot down for proselytizing. How arrogant are you that you can tell people they have to believe like you do or go to hell? No one wants to hear that! I have news for you, you need a better ad campaign. The old "come join me so you would burn in hell for being a heathen" thing isn't working.

it's like telling someone that they are getting fat...your intentions may be to warn them that being fat is unhealthy and you want to share how you lost weight yourself.

unfortunately, their reaction may be to hate you for telling them the truth because they are in denial, and they may go so far as to hate you for even bringing it up. if they are really sensitive about their weight, while in denial about it, they may say that you are *harping* on their fatness constantly.

and then again, some people simply enjoy telling people that they are fat just to hurt their feelings...
