Ok guys and gals this is my last question about High Definition TV's I promise! As some of you may know from my previous questions I am going to be buying a HD TV soon and keep changing my mind about which one to get. I think I have now narrowed it down to 2 and would love your input on whether I get the Pionner PDP-427XD Plasma (not the 4270XD) or the Sharp LC-42XD1E LCD.

I have read countless reviews and articles about the 2 but just cannot make up my mind on which one to get. Both have their pro's and con's over the other ie The Sharp is Full HD and the Pioneer is not but I have read article which say don't be too influenced by the TV being 1080p and that Plasma's are the way to go for larger screen (37inch +).

So it's down to you to help me choose.

If picture quality, sound quality, build quality and reliability are important to you, get the Pioneer.

Most of the product reviews you read are probably fake. Either by the manufacture or if you're checking out one of those online buying guides for lcd or plasmas those just point you to sites they own so the articles are created to help sell their inventory and bash the competition. That said I'm completely unbiased and have seen just about every model television manufactured and sold in the U.S. in the past 15 years.

To answer your question....
Both TV's are great. Any article that says don't be too influenced by the TV being 1080P has never watched the same movie with a 720P source and an 1080P source over a 720P screen and 1080P screen side by side. With twice the pixels to make up the screen 1080P is dramatically better than 720P when using a 1080P source, like a blu-ray disc movie.

I don't think a year or two from now you will say "I wish I would have bought the TV with the lower resolution" So for my 2 cents the choice is clear go with the True HD from Sharp.
