I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima GXE. My sunroof opens up but doesn't slide open, it stoped after 2 seconds. I changed the motor 2 times with the same result. Is there another problem with my sunroof? I really want to enjoy the sun light but I can't open it completely.

Auto back sunroof needs to be reset. Using the tilt switch the roof will move two inches and stop tilt switch foward till the roof is fully closed press and hold the tilt switch ten seconds this causes the roof motor to learn the closed posistion. Then everything should work like it used to. Just remember next time you think your battery is going dead close the roof and before removing the battery power cables.
In rare cases the sliding panel is crooked and binds up causing the motor to stop (anti Pinch) So look to see if the front gap is the same on both sides.

The bigger question is how much you are willing to spend. In a Civic, the sunroof is only available in the EX trim level, which is approx. $2000.00 higher than the LX mid-level trim, their biggest seller. You get a lot for the money, though. The EX also has steering wheel radio controls, 4-wheel disc brakes, and alloy wheels to name a few things. There should be no problem with leaking, since these are factory sunroofs, and I have personally owned several cars with sunroofs or T-tops and I have never had a leak in any of them. I chose not to buy a new Honda Civic EX in May '07 just because I didn't think it was worth the extra cost. I bought the LX instead. BTW, our second car is an '08 Nissan Rogue with a sunroof and we have no complaints.
