As an ex manager within HR I can state that an OU degree/qualification is well respected. In fact, I recognised the commitment given by OU graduates in achieving their goals and the self imposed discipline it took to achieve them- which I definitely took as another skill.

In my experience definitely. I work in a graduate position for a global pharmaceutical company and it was my OU degree that got me in the door.
For some science courses the OU is ranked right up there with Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial. Employers just have to respect that.
Some full-time unis use OU teaching material.
Smaller companies with no HR department to set the score straight might still have a bit of a prejudice if the managers have only seen some beardy Seventies type giving a Janet and John description of some basic science on the telly. The tv programs are mainly for lower level courses and are only there for visual reinforcement of important concepts. It would be a big mistake to judge the academic rigour of an OU degree on the content of the tv broadcasts. The OUs printed course materials are absolutely on a par with the best full-time unis.Believe me, I know as I have studied with the OU and at an elite uni (Imperial College, London).
There are unis with dodgy reputations out there but the OU would not be on any fair-minded persons list!
If you're thinking about it, go for it!

Open University qualifications are well recognised by employers as employers acknowledge that it takes superb time management skills, dedication, self confidence and self reliance as well as the ability to act on ones own self initiative to complete such qualifications.
All Open University courses are widely highly regarded with many major global corporations sponsoring their employees on such courses to aid their careers. Maybe your employer/firm would be willing to sponser you? The ranking of classification is higher than other conventional 'brick' universities i.e. a 2:2 with the OU is actually a 2:1 in other universities!!
The ability to work and gain valuable work experience and thereby work references is also a strong selling point for OU graduates. THE OU IS ALSO A FULLY ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY WITH THE SAME IF NOT MORE PRESTIGE THAN OTHER UNIVERSITIES.....
In short, your OU degree will not only be considered 'equal' to other university degrees, but in fact may be seen as superior.
The teaching materials of their courses are also held in high regard.
I am in my 6th and final year with the OU and have got jobs on the strength of me being an OU student.
Go for it and GOOD LUCK!!!

a level is a level yet some human beings care extra approximately the place you studied. do no longer overlook that is extremely not your only determination. that's conceivable to start an OU degree and then flow your credit to a distinctive company for say your final one year then your degree could be from the region you probably did your final one year of uni.

It depends how open minded the employer is. I have heard of one wnting a graduate stating the ex-poltechnic graduates need not apply. If they are that narrow minded thatthey can not see the huge long term commitment of an OU aare they worth working for anyway?
A young graduate has got his degree the easy way. Ok I know thet worked hard but not as hard as you have had to

Yes, and I should probably say even more so, because the employer will be impressed that you have actually wanted to better yourself and get qualifications later in life.
