Because it isn't a science book, it is a religious book. Stop worrying about whether scientists are trying to explain away events from the bible. Because that is exactly what they are trying to do. If they truly believed that there is no God they wouldn't try so hard to prove it.

Science is about find out the truth about how nature works. They have no hidden agenda against the Bible or religion. It's relgiion that cannot deal with reality.
