They actually had a button quota when they were designing the remotes, so they stuck it on.

I remember back in the days of Plato, one needed the eject button to get the tape from the inside of the VCR or else one needed a screwdriver and serious time to take it apart to get the tape.

lol, well in my case if i was feeling really lazy i would push it on the remote and tell one of my kids to get it out, and put a new one in. It would come in handy since one isnt at the age to read and know where the eject button is.

All i can think of of is that this, the machines tend to get warm whilst they have been on for awhile and been working. So by ejecting them facilitates the device to calm down by circulating air in area of them. i recognize it incredibly is real with tapes , additionally with tapes it take the tape out of the tape course temper, it particularly is the place the tape wraps around the heads by a sequence of pulleys and stuff and additionally shall we the device cool off.

VCR? Dude, you need to churn over the logic of DVDs and come to the correct conclusion that it's far easier to dig those DVD's out of gluey, tight-wrapped packaging until you're frustrated, put it in the player and realize it skips like crazy!

One would hope that one day, technology would be so advanced that the tape or disc would just come flying out at you. In the religious world, we call that being possessed. "A Ghost in the Machine..."
(Or was that just an anime I watched long ago?)

There isn't one on mine. There is one, however, on most DVD player remotes for some reason.
