I have a job and earn enough money to buy stuff for me and my mom has money to buy food, clothes, phone and utilities. I have bought so much stuff on eBay and other sites that my mom is making me pay for food and utilities. I tell her I have stopped the excessive buying but she still wants me to pay for all the food and utilities. She will not let me touch the emergency money even for food and utilities and during the winter if I don't have enough money for food I will not eat and she will not let me use that money in the bank. How do I compromise or do I run away and find someone else's mom to help me?

Assuming you are over the age of 18, then you don't need her permission to use your own money, all you have to do is prove to her that your excessive spending habits are under control.

If you are UNDER the legal age, then it sound to me like she is trying to make sure that you are able to function in life later on, and as much as you hate to have it done to you, I applaud her for her efforts

You can do whatever you want to do with your own money short of something illegal and you don't have to pay for food and utilities. That is her responsibility, not yours. Now, reasonable people would understand that if the family is having financial problems then you should help with bills if you can and not waste money on unneeded things. It sounds like you folks are not reasonable people. Actually your question doesn't even make sense because first you say she WON'T let you use money even for food, then you say she makes you PAY for food and utilities, so you really need to work on being CLEAR, and this may be part of the problem with your mother, you are not having a clear conversation in the very first place.

why not start youre own emergency fund so you k now you have enough for the winter. Why do you have to tell her about it.And why would you want to go to someone else's mom when they may have the same problems as you.Make a grown up choice here and start youre own account and just set some aside for the winter. And stop buying of ebay.If you have enough for that you have enough to get you throu the winter.Just because you have the money dont mean you have to spend the money.

What, are you like 13? because of the fact for sure, college isn't on your destiny, judging from the grammar you utilize so properly. If the money in question somewhat is "your money" from a job, then you definately could be waiting to spend it as you like. yet while "your money" is money that Mommy components to purchase your lunch, then too undesirable, you don't get to spend it as you go with too. you may plan on shifting out of that domicile as quickly as you turn 18, so as which you do not would desire to stay in that totolitarian regime anymore. that is glaring which you comprehend lots extra desirable than your mom. Did you ever stop to think of what it expenditures her to strengthen you? Do you pay employ? purchase groceries? Pay for utilities? you may think of related to the destiny, and not waste money.

Um, you say you can't use the money for food, then you say you have to pay for food, then you say she won't let you buy food.

Thus, it's unclear what is going on here.

If it is really true that your mother is going to make you starve, then that's for Child Services to deal with. But I find it hard to believe that that's what's going on.

Maybe you should try this question again, but get your facts straight.

It sounds like your mom is doing the right thing in letting you learn to be responsible with money. Maybe you need to talk to her and maybe you both can come up with a solution to the problem.
