just so you guys know, I love him to bits, and i dont think he's stupid, there are people in my family saying that, i just wanted to see if i was so blind, his name is Alexander like the great king, and he's a fluffy norwegian kitty, he always sleeps in my bed, with me and my boyfriend, usually ontop of the covers ontop of us.. our favourite time is infront of the tv, eating dry fish,
even thou he's a cat, he once tryed to take a shower with me.. he he,,, and as soon as i touch him, petting him, he starts to purr... and when i go take a shower he waits outside, the whole time.. when i go for walks, he followes me and he likes to go for drives, he he..

Your cat sounds very devoted to you! No, he is not stupid, sometimes cats purr when they are scared - (keep your bratty nephew away from him). Take good care of this kitty - he is a sweet and special one!

No, I think he is an affectionate and lovely cat. I don't know if the hit on his head had any side effects, but as long as he functions properly (litterbox, eating, walking, etc.), well, a cat doesn't need much more intelligence! It's not like he would become a scientist or anything if he was smarter! so what's the difference with other "smart" cats? If he is more affectionate, all the better!

The tail dragging I'm not sure about, but the cat sitting outside the door is not abnormal behaviour. I have a pet cat myself and if I go on holiday or away or whatever, when I return I usually find cat hairs on my bed. I assume that our feline friends know we are missing and decide to guard our space / territory until we return.

what a lot of people don't seem to realise is that a cat also purrs when it is displeased. I hope you are teaching any children that may be in contact with your cat to have respect for all animals and how to treat them - gently! All too often children are rough with animals and when the cat or dog lashes out in retaliation its the poor animal that is blamed, very often in the case of dogs with their lives. As for the cat waiting outside, he obviously loves you and was waiting for you. As for being stupid - no, no, no. Animals have more intelligence and sense than we give them credit for. Our greatest problem as humans is that we tend to judge all animals by human standards and behaviours.

I think I've kept over 50 cats in my lifetime. One thing that I've learned from them is that every cat has a personality, just like us human beings. In fact, cats are smarter than most human beings in one way - they know how to pretend to be dumb when they need to. As such, most cats do not appear to have any personality until they know us well and they have begun to trust us.
I had one male cat I picked up as a stray from the market, who allowed other stray kittens to suckle on himself because those kittens did not have mothers. Of course, we had to feed them with real milk, but the warmth and security he gave to those kittens made them happy. After some years, when he was about to die, he wandered off from the house while we were not looking. It was obvious that he did not want us to know that he was dying, although we knew it. We eventually found its body and gave it a proper burial. That's an example of a cat with its own personality.
Your cat has its own personality too and it is showing it to you.

The same thing happened to one of my kittens. She was about 3 months old when she fell on her head. She's 12 years old now & still the same size she was when she fell! She's not quite right in the head, but other than the weird things she does from time to time, she's completely normal. She's very healthy, just a little wacky.

My cat's the same, if you tease her and pick her up when she clearly doesn't want you to, she still purring, then when you put her down she doesn't run away. I think they just like attention ever if it's annoying. When we went on holiday she was really grumpy the whole time we were away and started pooing in a pot plant. Anyway, yes I think this is normal - but then I think our cat's stupid too.

Cats don't purr only when they are content and happy. They also purr during tense or traumatic moments. When suddenly and violently injured, even at moments near death, a cat will often purr.
Your cat is completely normal, he was just very scared!
