how do i record college lectures and then convert it to text?

Can I use onenote for that or is there dictating software for that?

It depends on your definition of 'record'.

If you write the notes, there are many conversion programs.
If you use a voice recorder, there are a few programs but the 'spelliing and grammer' leave much to be desired. You could listen and type, or hire a 'transcription' service like the court's use.

Is there some type of speech to text program you can use? Maybe purchasing something that's designed for it would be better, but I'm not sure how many things like that there are out there.
