Or does it deserve the mick taken out of it for taking itself too seriously?

Sure it does - why not answer a question seriously once in a while, if a fellow person sincerely asks for your help in something?

The fact of the matter is, religion plays a huge role in society and can effect an individual in unbelievable ways. Whether or not you are religious is really quite inconsequential - if you're alive and you don't live under a rock, chances are you will come accross religion at some point in your life. Religion can be positive or negative, and it's only responsible to consider the outcomes when answering a question. Yeah, this is just a live internet Q&A, and yeah, you will never be happy if you take everything seriously, but people do genuinely come here looking for help, and if they don't get it, there can be some very big consequences.

1) Why would it be ethically wrong for the doctor to give the child a lethal injection? OR Why would it be ethically permissible? It would be ETHICALLY wrong as against the cannons of professional responsibility. This is not the physician's call, it is the parents decision. 2) Would it be ethically acceptable to withhold life-sustaining treatment to quicken death if it is agreed upon that the condition will eventually kill her? For example, to NOT place her on a ventilator if she could no longer breathe on her own? Why or why not? Agreed upon by whom? Again, under the cannons of professional responsibility, once the baby is born and absent express consent to withhold treatment from the parents or the court, the physician is LEGALLY obligated to treat.

Without looking at all the answers, and the questioner in the eye, I'd say, "Happiness is a warm gun"

Serious questions should get serious answers.

There's always going to be plenty of stupid questions, answer them how you will. But really good questions are rare, and should be treated well.
