If you already have a Dr saying 3 weeks, then why are you asking here????

If you are still feeling unwell at the end of that time, I'm sure the Dr will give you more time to recover.

Personally, I would be itching to get back to work, I only had 10 days off after my breast cancer surgery, and would have had less if my Dr hadn't insisted! If he wants you to take that long, he probaby has a good reason and is in a better position to judge your healing, and risk factors than we are.

Go with what the doctor says at the time he'll have to fill in a form or certificate or soemthing like that saying you need whatever amount of time off and then he'll either extend it or say your fit for work again at the moment you can look forward to 3 weeks but i reckon it might be a tad longer than that.

I wouldn't ask for a second opinion. They might give you less time off work.

Skin operations are not normally that invasive and don't take long to recover from. Also, unless you work in a infectious diseases lab or a sewer, I see no logic in you getting an infection at work rather than at home.

If you want less time off work, go back to your doctor.

3 weeks to avoid infection then more time if you need it for your brains to get round it. Just go with the flow and see what happens. Having had breast cancer, I was off for 4 months the first op I had. For my brains to understand what had happened more than for the surgery. Pamper yourself. Relax. Do for you instead of worrying about working. Love and healing thoughts.
