My girlfriend says that she has to have more control for it to work..
She says I can have control at work, at my job and she can have control in the household.. But I didn't think control in the household meant to sit around and have her cook for me, tell me how to dress, tell me how to spend my money, tell me what we're going to do, want to take the remote away from me while I'm watching tv to put whatever she wants on the tv, tell me what to eat and what not to eat, and etc.. is this healthy in a relationship? I am all for giving females more power in a relationship but is there a time when they abuse it? I can imagine that giving them more power means they have more decision making abilities with the kids and everything.. but should it really be near dominination? She says that it has to be that way for a marriage to work..

See, you went and let her think that she could get away with it. No one person should ever have control over another. Be a man and assert yourself. If she doesn't like that then send her sorry butt on her way out the door.

Hi, this is not good. I will promise you that you guys will have some serious problems in your relationship in the near future. Any relationship is a two way street. Sounds from what your saying - She wants to be in control of your life and feelings. I know its hard to walk away - and I know you love her lots, but you have to think of yourself and your feelings...ask yourself, are you 'happy' ? If you have problems now that bother you then sure enough it will get worse as time goes by. A honest and faithful relationship is 50/50. Be honest with yourself and be 'open' tell her how you feel and how much it bothers you. No body is in charge, work together on a family relationship. There is NO BOSS'ES in a marriage or relationship....
good luck
Michelle

i think she is crazy and that is not how a relationship should work. if you continue with this and let her keep having ALL control in these areas you will be miserable. it must be at lease 50/50. my husband and i always decide together to watch something on tv. we share things. i don' always get what i want. we both do. consider the future very carefully. if this turns into a marriage it will not last long at all unless the 2 of you come to some kind of agreement on sharing. man up.

Hard to tell, usually one person is more suited to one 'job' and the other to another 'job'. For example, I'm better at paying bills, so that's my job. Hubby earns more money outside the home, so I do more of the work at home. So it sounds like the two of you are mismatched. You think she's over-controlling, and she says it's her way or the highway....sounds like the highway might be the way to go. Who wants to be ultimatumed into a relationship? She should value your opinion and decisions, not tell you that they won't work in your relationship.

I think it means she thinks your too lazy to really do anything for the relationship.... Some women shouldn't have all that much power in a relationship anyways..... Also, isn't a healthy relationship based on an equal partnership where they have to sit down and talk about what they should do? I think your girlfriend is a tad bit domineering......

She absolutely is wrong. Marriage is a partnership and the time spent Together should a compromise on Both parts.

Sure she can choose programs to watch on television but so should you part of the time. You can cook part of the time... You can decide where to go and who to see part of the time.

Total dominance by her in the household is one huge prescription for divorce down the road.

This is going all the some time past to tribal situations, whilst choosing the incorrect guy could be a unfavorable mistake for a woman. If her fellow tribesman gave the thumbs down, it has an incredible result on her. it is oftentimes been that way.

No that way will never work and is deemed for failur dont put yourself in that position. If you let her control you like that, her respect for you will be very little. Relationships should be 50/50

LEAVE!!!!!!! tell her to screw! this is the crap I can't STAND from women! scream about "comitment" and "equality" then they pull this. dude, a woman doesn't have to kiss your butt but if this is the level of respect you get can her as#. NO WOMAN IS WORTH YOUR SELF RESPECT. if you stick with this you DESERVE what you get just like women do when they insist on staying with guys who cheat and treat them like crap because " they know he really loves them" " he can change" and " they can change them"

" let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men, she is to be kept silent.for adam was formed first, then eve, and adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. yet woman will be saved through bearing children, if she continues with faith, and love, with holiness and modesty: 1 Timothy 2:11
