I have a 9 year old daughter and a 7 year old son.
My daughter would like books, coloring books and crayons, stickers, arts and crafts supplies, puzzles. Hair accessories are a hit, and ask their mother if they can have lip gloss (clear only for my daughter) and nail polish.
My son is perfectly happy with little cars (like Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Tonka) and Transformers. Blocks, legos, tinker toys, etc are other ideas.
Bubbles, jump ropes, balloons, balls are other ideas that will keep them entertained and are inexpensive. How about a sprinkler for the back yard for them to play in? Hula hoops?
It will not be hard to find things they will like. Good luck!

My daughter is 8 and my son is 6. My daughter loves crafts and arts, so do most of her friends. Any kind of art supplies, markers, paints, beads, glue, glitter, interesting papers are cool. Girls this age are usually avid readers too, so maybe some books. They like jewelery and more grown up things so maybe some cute necklaces from claires, and a big girl jewelery box to put them in. Another thing they like is writing letters and things. Since they are moving, she may have friends to write to. Get her a nice set of stationary, she'll love that. Groovy Girls are really cute dolls that girls that age seem to like, but stay away from those horrible slutty Bratz Dolls. It's possible her mother may even object to them.
Six year old boys love action. Cars and trucks are good, specifically ones that make noise and have lights and stuff. A remote control car would be really cool. My son also has these racing cars that you shake up to make them go, those are pretty neat. My son still likes dressing up in costumes, so some make believe play wear might work out. Unisex toys like balls and jumpropes are always good to have around, and anything that encourages the kids to play together (rather than argue) is good. Get some kids board games too.

I have 6 year old twin boys, so that's an easy one for me LOL... They love Bionicle, and anything having to do with Spiderman.
As for the girls... maybe some jewelery making sets, craft stuff (for older kids). Kids of all ages love video games. Don't klnow how much you wanted to spend, but I believe the Nintendo Game Cube is the cheapest (about $170 for the system, an extra controller, and a game).

Does he do any after-school activities? Try karate class or something like that. Something his brothers and sisters are not into, that he can feel is his own and can get a sense of accomplishment from. It might be a self-esteem issue. Is he getting enough sleep? Does he get enough alone time with each of his parents? Ask him if there's anything he would like to tell you about what's happening at school some time when you're alone. He might be having a problem with a kid at school. Good luck.

Transformers for the boy! They're cool right now. The girls are in the gift card age. Maybe Clairs. Or if they play video games, get them a new hip game!
