Because he's conveniently invisible, even if he does exist.

Because people who do not believe utilize a portion of their mind called reasoning and this ISN"T to say that God doesn't exist but rather they are using reasoning to look past the stories of God being a man in a sky with a place thats all peaceful he lives in. Because THAT defies reasoning and since a individual hasn't sought to understand what they could be then they will never know what God is. But will only use elementary level religious fundamentalists stories as their backbone of why they don't believe.

So in short, both are correct yet incorrect with their thinking since they negate the opposite.

um because, well um i don't, I've tried, i've read the bible, i've sudied islam, non of it fits, so i don't, and i as an atheist would say this if you asked me why I am an atheist

'I am an atheist, I do not believe in the god of the bible nor the quran or any other religion, supernatural deity etc as there is a lack of evidence such a thing exists, how ever if the evidence where to come to light i would reconsider my position in line with what evidence is presented to me'

does that answer it?

Well... religious belief comes with some baggage...

* gullibility
* irrationality
* willful ignorance
* self-delusion
* intellectual dishonesty
* drooling stupidity

For the rational mind, that is simply too high a price to pay for the ILLUSION of salvation and the DELUSION that one will have eternal life at the side of a vile and evil (imaginary) diety who would set up his own son to be cruelly tortured and suffer a gruesome and agonizing death... in a spectacle of blood sacrifice... to appease HIMSELF.

"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion." ~ Robert M. Pirsig

There's no reason to. Thre's no evidence of a god. There's no reason why the unierse should have a creator simply because there's an organization (i.e. laws exist) to the universe.

And finally, we don't have to explain why we don't believe. The onus is on YOU, the believer, to explain why you think god exists. There is no credible evidence that there's a god, so it's on you to explain why you're still convinced that one exists

Why do people believe in God? There's no reason to besides the holy texts, and why the hell should we believe they're legit? There's zero proof, zero evidence, tons and tons of scientific inaccuracies and self-contained contradictions, and sick, twisted morals contained within (a few of the holy texts, anyway).

Well lets see people who want me to believe in "god" base their teachings and arguments and proof on a book called the bible. Lets take a look at that thing shall I.. Each book in the bible seems to contradict itself there are plot holes all over in that thing not to mention the mortal men who wrote it seem to me anyhow to have questionable mental stability.

I have never experienced anything that convinced me there is a God and I'm just not into assuming that something exists if I see no sign of it.

"I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
