I am considering purchasing a 1990 Dodge Ram W150 Short Box 4x4, I need to make sure it will pull my RV that is around 6500-7000 pounds. I have done several searches and can not find anything online to provide this exact info. I have been to the Dodge website, Edmunds, Automall, etc. Please do NOT refer me to these sites as it's a waste of time. I need to know quick as the seller is anxious. Thanks a bunch....

Due to high gas prices people try to pull oversize loads with undersized vehicles. You can tow it, but unless you have a one ton truck you are asking for serious injury or death to yourself and others.Contact the department of transportation for info on vehicle limitations. Please be safe.

Look on the door post will tell you there. It will probably pull it but for how long?? You really should have a 3/4 ton as it;s quite light duty. For that much weight your hauling. The age is also a factor for that much weight????The new 1500 will only haul 5900 lbs safely?? As it the tongue weight that kills the truck. You have to move the weight back on the trailer so the trucks not on the ground an it unloads the rear tires making it unsafe to haul.An the trans will give up as it light duty??

That depends on the engine if it is a V-8 then it will have no problem, Dodge did put a 3.9L V-6 in that truck that year.... that might be pushing it for that 6 cylinder engine to tow 7K pounds, but if you have a V-8 then your good.

I think the standard towing was 5,000 pounds. It is possible to beef up the suspension and increase engine power enough to to tow that weight, but it would be better and cheaper to find a truck that already has the ability.

Several suggestions which i did not see in your question. If you have a owners manual look in there and if it is not in there. Then try you local dealer and i am sure they can tell you.
