They are afraid of the unknown. Or they may not be sure enough about their salvation.

Fear of the unknown. While some have vague ideas of an afterlife (heaven) it is still hard to hold the faith against the unknown. And there are many opinions of the afterlife realms.
Is there an afterlife? Most believe so, but there are still some who do not. What, where, how, why is it are all outstanding ideas.

They want to be in a wonderful place when they die (we do have a 100% mortality rate) but they are attached to this world, the things and people in it and don't want to let go. As Christians we are told we are not of this world....just aliens in a strange land and not to get too comfortable here because this world is not our home. (after all home is where your heart is.) If your heart is in Jesus' keeping...you want to be with Him when you die...not stick around on this earth.

The Bible says that we are right in wanting to enjoy a long happy life here. When that time is done, I'll go to heaven eternally.

Death was never intended for man.

Death is the universal penalty for man's sins against God.

Nobody in their right mind would look forward to death, and nobody with any sense at all would die, if they didn't absolutey have to.

Heaven is God's consolation for the faithful, who can look past death ... to a new, perfect, and eternal life ... which is in and through Jesus Christ ... who remains the only antidote for eternal death.

The people whose daughter lay in a vegetative state for years, they believed in Heaven but didn't want their daughter to go there just yet. They battled in court to keep her out of Heaven.

Church folks are funny that way, and in a whole lot of other ways too.

I don't want either. I don't believe in Heaven though so maybe I don't count.
