I am a Junior in High School, and I'm going to start applying to the Academy in 1 semester and I'm really nervous, lol I have a 4.143 GPA and have earned an Academic Letter; I am on the JV Boy's Tennis Team; and I also run JV Track and Field. I am a member of IB Council (for the International Baccalaureate program) and in FBLA and will run for FBLA officer this year. Does anyone have advice for the application process, or any advice for things that I could do?

You must be endorsed by a politician of your district and you must be able to hurdle the written exams, physical tests and medical examinations.

You will need an endorsement from either one of your Senators or Congressmen. Start asking now...you can find your States Reps at http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/. They usually want an easy stating why you want to be commisined in the USAF, and what you would do if so commisioned. Beside proff of your grades they usually want an endorsment from a teacher, guidance consoler, principle, etc reccomending you and why! Any letters of recommendation from your local leaders, clergy, volunteer organizations, etc will also help. Put all of your documents together in a professional portfolio, along with the application, and send it in. Although not a requirement, I would highly recommend the use of a professional resume or document preperation firm. Your package has to out-shine a thousand others. Good luck!! P.S. Get a letter from your coaches too. Phsyical fitness is just as important as mental fitness. You are a runner so the mile and half sould be no problem, but if you are a sprinter you may want to start running 1.5 miles and work on your time. Push-ups and sit-ups also...timed; most in 1 minute!

I hope you get in and graduate at the very top of your class. Beyond that I hope you become one of the nations top explorers in Deep Space. Soon either the Air Force Academy or something new will have to be established to train all that will be needed to face the Final Frontier! Find out everything you can about requirements and expectations for each class you will be enrolled in, this way you can prepare ahead of time and be ready and ahead of the curve in everything you'll be facing. Remember always be prepared for what ever you may be facing! Anticipation is a good thing!
