As a kid we would tie a string to it and then a door. I never really could shut the door but a good idea. I would just rock it back and froth. There are some great over the counter (check out Wal-Mart or Target), numbing stuff for your teeth.

Good luck,
Julie

Try Extra Strength Orajel, which you can get at any store, and apply topically to the area. However, if the cavity is very deep local numbing gels may not be very effective. If it doesn't work, take 800 mg of ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) every four to six hours (it's more than the recommended dosage on the box but it won't kill you). If you have access to something stronger like Percoset or Percodan then take that. I would say go to the ER but whether or not you want to pay hundreds just for a couple of Percosets is a judgment call. You can always call them and ask if there is a dentist on call for emergencies.

There is a gel called Orajel which helps a lot. I have gotten it at a drug store. It does not requilre a prescription. I've used it. Call a dentist on Monday morning.

Got any whiskey? if so rub that on, it will kill the pain temporally or if you have oil of cloves will work also. then put some Cotton over it to keep the air out.. That will carry you over till you can get to the dentist...

I get a washrag and wet in with WARM -Hot water. This will help with the pain. Then tug, tug, tug... wait wait wait... tug tug tug. Keep tugging harder then taking short breaks. Eventually that tooth will come out. and it won't be as painful. :) Hope this helps !
