Hello. I currently have linux installed on a system. I am trying to install XP over the linux however the wireless keyboard seems to be giving me problems. The keyboard "transmittier" has a little light on it which tells me whether it is on or not. When The computer first starts up, the light is on suggesting I can press "Del" and get into setup. But once the part where I have to "Press any key to boot from CD..." comes up, the light turns off and no matter what I press on my keyboard, the linux will eventually load. It seems that I need to plug in a wired keyboard or something. Any suggestions?

By the way, setting the boot order does not do anything whatsoever it is currently set up as

1. Floppy
2. CD
3. HDD

Thank You.

You want to format your drive. (Right click on the drive icon and select Format)

You'll be warned that all data on the disk will be lost. Click OK.

After formatting (it will take a while), insert the WindowsXP installation disk, turn off your computer and reboot.

Press any key to boot from CD when prompted again.

That's because the wireless drivers do not load during the boot sequence, so the wireless keyboard won't work unless an OS is loaded.

You will need a wired keyboard.

Your keyboard probably has a USB connector for the transmitter. XP was not developed to use USB before the installation actually has started, so it won't recognize the transmitter. Therefore you can't use it when installing XP. Borrow a wired keyboard from somebody, use that to install XP, then reconnect your wireless keyboard.

you need an original type keyboard with the small round connector to install the operating system, this is called a ps/2 connector. you should set your boot order to cd rom first, hdd second and floppy last. by the way you can get an adapter to plug a usb keyboard into the ps/2 plug, i have one and it works great

I'm guessing that the driver for the keyboard transmitter probably loads with Windows and therefor is not loaded while attempting to enter the bios. Try using a standard keyboard while you load your OS.

Change the boot order to CD first.
Change your keyboard or just borror a usb one from someone and disable this keyboard...
Does the keyboard work when the linux loads?
Can you "uninstall" the linux?

I would suggest that you talk to a computer person. I had
a problem like that and I ended up calling a person in to look
at it, A few adjustments in SET UP and the problem was
solved.
