The United States Army has decided, in all its infinite wisdom, to loosen the strict requirements regarding enlistment. Now gone are the age limits, weight limits, educational levels AND criminal and past drug records.
In 2002, over 120 men and women fluent in the many Arabic languages, including Farsi, were released from the Army because they were gay. SO, you want criminals and drug addicts, but no Farsi speaking gays? No wonder we're losing this war. Go King George....youre gonna get us all killed.

You have twisted facts in order to provide us with yet another rant against President Bush.
The Army has NOT gotten rid of its requirements like you claim. Yes changed some, or have allowed waivers that they used to not allow.
Yes the age limit has been changed due to healthier people. There is a common phrase now "people now in their 50s are like people years ago in their 30's", and its true! People now in their late 40s or early 50s are doing the same physical things that our parents did in their 30's. If you are cabable of meeting the requirements, why kick someone out that can still do the job? Thats dumb, and usually these people have loads of experience!
Weight limits have definitely not been waived! The military is even more strict about this than they were in the 80's! So this little rant proves you haven't done any research, just spout off.
The military doesn't allow "criminals" in the military! Sure, some things that used to be an automatic bar to enlistment are allowed today. If you have a few traffic violations you can still join, but a few years ago, more than 1 or 2 tickets meant you couldn't....or a conviction for underage drinking, or trespassing, or having smoked a few joints.
As far as kicking out the gay Arabs, it is a well known fact that the military's policy is "Don't ask, don't tell". If they were kicked out they somehow violated this policy and should be kicked out.
Your pathetic little "anti Bush" rant just shows everyone here how mis-informed and/or ignorant you really are!

The army doesn't just allow anyone with a criminal and drug background to join. The criminal background can't be murder or rape or anything harsh or serious. Petty crimes have always been overlooked. As far as drug problems...You have to have been clean for a certain period of time before they even entertain the thought.
And I hope you have a military background, since you are bashing the Army. If you had a military background and served anytime in any branch...you would know that the military doesn't go in search of homosexuals to discharge from the military. More often than not...these servicemen and women ask to be released from active duty because of their sexual preference. It is an easy way out!!!
I also hope you are doing something in community to support our troops and to help people vote for whats right in the upcoming elections, instead of running your mouth on message boards!!!!!

The US Army won't allow someone that has committed murder to enlist in a combat position where your primary assignment is to kill the enemy! If anything these people have the most important experience necessary for the job! They have taken another persons life at close range where you can look him in the eye and not flinch! This is the kind of person you want on your team, not some kid looking to make himself a man!

The Army and The Marines will accept pretty much anyone (criminals, high school dropouts, or any retard that is able to pull a trigger). Join the Navy or Air Force.

You are wrong and you have no idea what you are talking about.
And this is a horrible attempt to find something else to blame the President for.
EDIT: LOL.. The Houston Chronicle....is this a joke? A Bush hating paper prints an article like this and you believe them? Get your facts, man. And quit taking things out of context to make your point. Thats called Fascism. Good god.
And to the "Jake" below me...every single branch of service met their recruiting goals. Can someone please do some homework before inserting their foot in their mouth...?
Here are the 2007 recruiting numbers....as of Aug 12, 2007.
Army - Goal 60,900 - Accessions 61,861 - 102 %
Navy - Goal 29,274 - Accessions 29,349 - 100%
Marine Corps - Goal 24,242 - Accessions 26,659 - 110%
Air Force - Goal 22,289 - Accessions 22,289 - 100%
Army National Guard - Goal 55,239 - Accessions 55,264 - 100%
Army Reserve - Goal 29,360 - Accessions 28,642 - 98%
Navy Reserve - Goal 8,687 - Accessions 8,361 - 96%
Marine Corps Reserve - Goal 6,730 - Accessions 7,285 - 108%
Air National Guard - Goal 8,399 - Accessions 7,790 - 93%
Air Force Reserve - Goal 5,876 - Accessions 6,094 - 104%
So people are still volunteering to "go to war". Because they give a crap about this country and do something about it...instead of sitting behind their keyboards and complaining about everything.
So now go find something else to try and back your claims. And quit hating on the President. If you had any idea how the government works, CONGRESS is the ONLY one that can declare war and they did so by voting for it. So, if you are against the war...hate Congress... and quit trying to dish up bullcrap against me and my military brethren. You should be glad that we are out here making sure that you have the right to type this crap on your computer. If it werent for us, you would have someone kicking in your door right now and killing you for your beliefs.
Go to China and say something against the government/military and see what happens to you.
You're welcome.

The army must not degrade its status by lowering the standards in enlistment so that there will be strong military.
