We all want to bring our soldiers home as soon as possible. But, do you think if we start removing large units out of Iraq we may be giving Iran the opportunity to move their military in? Will this put us out of harm's way here at home and will it mean our efforts and lives taken were in vain?

My son is in the army so keep this in mind as I answer this question.
Bringing our troops home will not stop the aggression or take them out of harms way. You have to remember how the terrorist think & what they are brought up believing. They believe anyone who is not Muslim is evil and that even though murder is wrong they don't see it as wrong to kill us because this is killing evil and will get them into heaven. They see the US as the world leader therefore they feel like we are the prime target as any strategic thinker would. If we withdraw they will see this as they have us on the run and of course will follow to finish the job putting even more innocent people in jeopardy.
War is always bad. No one with a loving Christian heart ever wants to have to see any person die. We would perfer to try to save them but from years of working with the local PD you learn that there is some people that are beyond our help and not every person on this earth has a good streak somewhere inside that we can touch & bring out. Those people are the most dangerous kind because they prey on the fact that good people do want to help people and they use this to do unspeakable things from rape, murder, child abuse, molesting, identity theft and robbery. There is alot of bad people out there and if you ever doubt it volunteer at an abuse shelter, hospital, DHR or see if you can sit in with dispatch at some of your local law enforcement.
My son volunteered to get an education but he and alot of the guys from here are in the service and believe in what is being done over there and they are more informed on what is going on than we are.

There's been "terrorist aggression" on our homeland since the country was founded -- so, no, it's not going away.

Nor will it increase if we bring out troops home, because most of the terrorist who want to attack us are not in Iraq -- they're scatted all over the world.

The only effect that bringing our troops home will have is that we'll finally be able to put the resources into hunting down the actual terrorists -- rather than wasting time and money and lives playing umpire in the middle of their civil war.

the issue is not the 4,000. It's the HUNDREDs of BILLIONS of dollars you and I are spending on this occupation. I understand people's frustration when I see bumper stickers reading "end this war" or "bring em home" but bringing em home is NOT going to end this war! Senator Joe Biden outlined a plan a while back which was similar to the plan for Kosovo. This would only require 10,000 American troops to stay in Iraq. Kosovo has been in relative peace for 10 years now. Hillary or McCain or Obama had BETTER have a similar plan in mind.

No.

I haven't been deployed, got out of the military 3 months before 9/11. I honestly do think that we need to get the job done. I think a unit would be pretty pissed if they heard the words:

"Because we pulled out too early, we have to go back in and get the job done THIS time."

I know I would.

Bringing troops home means they are being taken out of harms way.

Whether US troops are in Iraq or not is irrelevant to the safety of US citizens.

If US troops were in Iraq on 9/11, the attacks would still have occurred because Iraq was not party to the attack plan, Saudi Arabia was.

NO!!! If it ever did, explain 9-11. The only reason another attack on US soil hasnt occured is because of our police and security forces here, and US soldiers killing the enemy over there. Think about it.

Put it simply, bringing our soldiers home will not make the world a safer place.

they have been at war for years on end.
one solution to the terrirosts.

End of World War II what happened to the master race.

same thing with these fanatics.
