What can I expect with Windows XP Pro?

I am just not quite for sure what this Windows XP Pro does and what I should expect.

Windows XP Pro is for network use. So if you have multiple computers at home, that you'd like to connect to a server and each other, Pro might be a good option.
If it's the only computer in your home, and/or you only wanna connect to another computer occassionally, go with the Home version. The added Networking features of Pro won't be worth the extra bucks then.

Windows XP Professional is more or less a Corporate Software that has all the bugs and fixes already done and is generally much more stable and reliable.
