Snoopy is a Beagle from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. He is also known as the WWI ace that shot down the Red Baron. There is a song from the 1950's or '60's named "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" by The Royal Guardsmen. Here is a site with the song, scroll down to the middle of the page.

A beagle.

Charles Schulz based the cartoon Snoopy off his real beagle, also called Snoopy. It's kind of like writing a comic strip about your pet.
