Illegal construction workers, who don't speak english and minimally understand instructions, are more likely to make mistakes and build unsafe bridges.

I did hear about this elsewhere. But of course, anyone who reports this will be labelled as "racist" by their fellow liberal reporters.

Ah, these politically correct times we live in...

it has been kept quiet hasn't it, that is sad. I wonder how many workers he had to be able to hire almost 30 Mexican nationals and keep up with fair hiring practices. Great story, thanks for posting it. I'd love to do that for a government contract, welding isn't exactly a migrant worker wage it's probably almost $20 an hour the average Union worker makes when they contract out something like that for bridge work. He was probably paying them $2 an hour for all I know.

i don't understand. I artwork in regulation so i do no longer could desire to truly build issues. yet i think of that's the better united stateswho've the two positioned maintenance to the backburner or in basic terms did no longer decide to spend the thousands and thousands of thousands and thousands of greenbacks to repair it the nicely suited way. in basic terms like in manhattan with the explosion of the city's underground heating systems. they did no longer decide to spend the money to repair it so as that they fix it on a choose foundation, regrettably, that's after some thing particularly undesirable occurs. yet are not getting all stupid and say "human beings" as though another guy or woman exterior of united statesa. is development A1 homes, bridges and whatnot, considering in basic terms does no longer be authentic, now might it. you may desire to attend till there is a few thing extra clever to whinge with reference to the subsequent time you opt to spew your hatred for united statesa.. This particularly isn't that convincing.

Geeze some people will do anything as long as it's illegal. This should have been on every news broadcast there is, so maybe people will see illegals are not just picking strawberries anymore. They are putting citizens lives at risk.

One can hardly blame the workers or even the construction company hired to do the work if the regulations concerned with qualifications for said work are not enforced. Before any company is hired to do critical work such as bridge construction, repair, and/or maintenance, it needs to be properly certified. Before they are certified, it and all its employees need to be examined thoroughly for proper, up-to-date qualifications to do the type of work involved. And, of course, that should include the requirement for citizenship of management and at least legal work permits for the workers. With so many new workers from non-American cultures being employed today, enforcement of the appropriate regulations needs to be much more vigilant to ensure the safety of the pubic. The same concept should also be applied in Canada, as we are seeing an increasing number of safety and legal problems involving people from other cultures, arising from a lack of regulation and law enforcement.
