Make it out to the parents .

Here's a suggestion for the next christening you attend... A savings bond in the childs' name.
You can obtain these at your bank as well. They come in denominations of $25, $50 or more.

As a mother.... my preference would be...

Skip the check and get a gift card instead. Wal-mart and Target are always useful for baby stuff, but for a christening, a gift certificate to a local Christian bookstore might be nice.

write it out to the parents, they might be able to cash it but it would be a giant headache unless they already have an account open for the child

I would say its easier on the parents to write it to them and out baby's name on the memo. That way if there is no account yet they don't have to rush to accomodate.....they are busy enough

depends if the baby has got its own bank account...if not write one out for the parents...most would put it towards the baby anyway.
