I have a 17 month old little girl and she really doesn't like milk so she doesn't drink very much of it. She probably drinks 4-5oz a day. It that ok or should I try to make her drink more? Is there anything I could give her instead? She likes yogurt and cheese is that enough calcium?

at least 17 ounces a day, im sure substituting other dairy products is fine, like the yougurt and cheese. did you try adding cocoa to her milk, or buy the strawberry milk... or make her milk shakes with banannas in it. Try some new things.. dont give up on her and milk though. it does a body good, right?

You may now give your baby homogenized whole cow's milk. Do not use 2%, low fat, or skim milk until your child is 2-3 years old. Your baby's diet will begin to resemble that of the rest of the families, with 3 meals and 2 snacks each day. You should limit milk and dairy products to about 16oz each day (in a cup or bottle) and 100% fruit juice to 4-6oz each day (offered in a cup only) and offer a variety of foods to encourage good eating habits later.
Your child should want to feed himself with his fingers and a spoon or fork and should be able to drink out of a cup. He should have given up the bottle by now. Remember that your baby's appetite may decrease and become pickier over the next few years as his growth rate slows. Your baby should also have given up middle of the night feedings by this age.

To avoid having to supplement with fluoride, use fluorinated tap water. If you are using bottled or filtered water only, then your child may need fluoride supplements (check with the manufacturer for your water's fluoride levels).

Feeding practices to avoid are giving large amounts of sweet desserts, soft drinks, fruit-flavored drinks, sugarcoated cereals, chips or candy, as they have little nutritional value. Also avoid giving foods that your child can choke on, such as raw carrots, peanuts, whole grapes, tough meats, popcorn, chewing gum or hard candy.

ok C P R is purely stupid. there is not something incorrect with cow milk. Does he have a wide-unfold great hero? if so tell him if he beverages his milk he will strengthen huge and strong purely like him. Or attempt some chocolate or strawberry combination ovaltene is powerful for them. Or purchase him a undeniable cup something he fairly likes and tell him he in straight forward terms gets to drink out of it if he beverages his milk.

some kids don't like milk, and thats fine. Make sure she gets her calcium form other sources, like cheese, yougurt, ect. If she really hates dairy products give her calcium fortified juices and vitamins. Good luck.

as long as she is getting calcium somehow and is drinking other liquids then milk is not that important. she doesn't need to be drinking much milk if she is eating other dairy products.
