NJ Transit goes from Orange and Rockland counties to the Secaucus Connection and then you have to transfer to go to Penn Station

metro north has many trains to Grand Central Station.

Amtrak also travels in and around the state of NY and arrives at Penn Station.

Hopefully this was some help

Amtrak has three lines that go through the Syracuse area and others. One is the 64 Maple Leaf Line that goes from Canada to NYC Penn Station. Also, the 284 Empire Service and the 48 Lakeshore Limited go near the Buffalo, Syracuse, Utica and Albany areas.
